Honestly the only thing that makes me happy about the Baku Genn HOF is odd warrior. It is by far the least fun deck to play against. I don't mind any of the other odd or even decks.

oh did they HOF those cards? Awesome, that's the only chance this game had of surviving another few years. It would have killed the game.

Having must have, overpowering legends that enable a ton of broken decks is soooo bad for this game, it raises the barrier of entry for new players and lowers the frustration barrier for everyone else. Those two cards probably cost them so much cash.

last 10 games

3 odd mage
4 odd paladin
2 odd warrior
1 hunter

Such terrible gameplay

Just so obnoxious in every way

Game will be real sweet after the rotation, it'll be like gaining 4 new expansions with how much genn/baku pushed out almost everything from WW/TBP/RR

Good changes imo. I'll probably drop $200 into the game on rotation and give the game one last shot. I kinda miss having something to run for ~1-2 hours here and there.

it's a shame they are killing cards like stag or moth, because those cards suck. i guess they realized the even odd was too OP, but I really liked the design

giving players free dust goes against the typical anti blizz virtue signaling from reddit so that was nice to see

If you don't have any of those cards, is the strategy to craft them, collect the free dust, then dust them back for full value?

So you should get 5560 dust for free right? 2 legendaries (3200), 2 epics (800 * 2), 3 rares (300 * 2), 2 commons (80 * 2)

Or do you get maximum dust by crafting all goldens?

if you have say 1 Gloom Stag the correct way to do it would be to craft a Golden Gloom Stag. You'll get full value back (1600) and you can keep it for free or disenchant it for a free (400)

if you have 2 copies total of something gold or normal, craft nothing

Aren’t they all the new odd/even cards?

I said this exact thing last night at work to a friend. Maybe at the exact same time too. Weird lol.

I think they should take some kind of steps to entice and ease the pain of former players who want to come back the way they did with WoW. I've considered coming back since I'm starting to get bored with EU4 and Elder Scrolls Legends got boring a while ago, but I've been gone a while now and I'm not interested in spending the money necessary to build my collection back up. I think going to a subscription based model would solve this, but people like opening their dumb packs so they won't do that ever I suspect.

I think you’re really overestimating how many cards you need - every expansion has a reasonably competitive deck for 2-3k dust. That’s a super easy number for someone to come up with.
Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game) Quote

I mean, if you had competitive standard decks before, you should have a few things you can dust when the next rotation hits, right?
Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game) Quote

Yeah rotation is worth 60k dust for me in cards headed to Wild if I need any dust.

I only put in $20 once or twice a year.

Also, pro-tip to build collection without investing much time every day. If you have an android or phone that runs HS and have it on desktop also make two accounts just to clear quests via multiclienting. I don't know if there's rules against it, but I've done it for the past year and gotten no warnings from Blizz.

Definitely not against the rules.

But yeah, once you have an establish collection and a years worth of rotation cards you can pretty much stay f2p. Keep up with quests (play once every 3 days) and you can have 8-10k in gold for each xpac.

I'm on a $20 per xpac model* at this point but still open 100 packs and can craft just about anything with ample dust.

*I admit I spent about $500 in battle.net balance from WoW gold over the previous 2 years to get to this point. But at this point it's basically free.

I stopped farming like over a year and a half ago, I never do tavern brawl, and over the last year I definitely have not kept up with my collection. And I still would be shocked if I have to invest more than $50 into an expansion. And I’m really bad at early crafting, I want to try every deck so I tend to get more cards than I need.

I honestly think the cost of entry in this game is one of the lowest of this genre. I was playing tier 1 decks by the time I‘d only been playing like a month and a half.

That’s why I think the even and odd cards are so truly terrible for this game-any must craft legendary is just horrible for accessibility purposes.

Don’t be shy about dusting golden and obviously garbage legendary’s/Epix and you’ll always have more than enough dust.

Dont forget if you wanna be super duper FTP just make sure you cap your gold rewards every day - you can do this by playing casual mode - always hit rank five for the 500 free dust, and play arena if youre a net winner which honestly isn’t that hard. In the first two weeks by doing this you would easily have enough dust and gold to craft whatever the dominant deck is after the meta settles down.

I don’t have that kind of time like I used to so I don’t mind dropping $100 every six months or so into the game. But I guess that’s not for everyone.

The thing is I'm starting to think more and more people are realizing just how much money hearthstone and other card games are costing.

Like i've spent probably $500 on hearthstone since it came out and have had more enjoyment out of Overwatch which im not sure i've spent a cent on. No other game i've played comes close to the amount i've spent than hearthstone.

Guess what i'm trying to say is as a guy who never played magic or other card games other than hearthstone it's still incredible the amount of money i've seen people say they've spent on card games like hearthstone and especially magic

I don’t think hearthstone and magic are even remotely comparable in terms of cost. Maybe online magic is better at that, I don’t know.

I am very aware that I’ve spent probably over two grand on this game but I’ve gotten more than 5000 hours out of it (maybe more) so it’s really hard to complain about that. And I didn’t even need to spend that much, it was just because as I got a little older and busier grinding became less appealing and i wanted to play t1 decks RIGHT NOW

It’s hard to complain about cost of games like this when fortnite has like 2 billion revenue on cosmetic microtransactions alone. People obviously are willing to dump loads of cash into games they enjoy.

Edit: i am probably way overestimating how much ive spent on this game

Artifact has 700 concurrent users and it just came out, it was supposed to be the hyped new card game. But the model is upfront cost + buying decks. In comparison to a game that costs $60 upfront as a one time cost + maybe 20-40 in DLC are you having 20x more fun paying $2000 for hearthstone? I have 262 hours into Slay the Spire and paid $5 for it.

I dunno I guess im just saying card games are ripoffs and only because they're designated as 'card games' people seem willing to drop magnitudes more money on it than other, arguably better games
Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game) Quote

That model doesnt work any more though - people would rather get bled to death over multiple years from microtransactions over a big upfront cost. That’s just the way it’s going now. I’m not saying it’s rational it’s just how the world works.

And if you want to play HS completely free it makes it very easy to do so - or at least sells this idea.

Ive long thought that free to play style + the occasional bare minimum investment (like say $20 an expac) in HS is the most bang for your buck.

As far as people being willing to spend more on card games - fortnite man. Its numbers are absolutely disgusting and make me rethink my life decisions every day. There’s no way a game pulls billions in revenue in such a short time period unless everyone’s just pumping money into it.

You look at the fortnite numbers and they are comparable to hearthstone revenues during the game’s peak.
