I've hit dad legend four months in a row now and I'm pretty happy with that. I can't imagine completing the grind to legend, even once. Kudos to those of you who hit it regularly

i know the deck sucks and i know i've posted this already, but i take so much joy in roping shudderwock (the obnoxious grumble version) decks. if i'm playing an aggro deck then sure, just crush em, but control, i'll make the game as long as possible which is what they want anyway, right?

The best is when you do this and they have shudder like bottom 5 or bottom 3 and then you get death grip off Lich King and win. I've had this happen 2 or 3 times.

I've started playing it out against them simply for the times when they get Grumble battlecry before Chain Gang and lose on the spot

I've been playing extreme control warlock, with Glinda/Gnomeferatu/Zola this week, bouncing around between rank 3-1, which makes Shudderwock pretty much an auto lose unless you can burn the combo.

But god it's fun when you manage it.

That should never happen vs control unless the Shudderwock player sucks. All they need to do is cast Zola at some point before going off. That guarantees a 9 mana Shudderwock copy in hand regardless of when Grumble procs.

this happens routinely. 9 mana shudderwocks dont win the game

Really?

Tell me, when you lose to shudderwock, how much mana did the first one cost?

there is no 2nd Shudderwock when Grumble goes off before Chain Gang

You're not getting my point.

What happens when Shudderwock fizzles? You get a board full of Shudderwocks, you freeze a couple of targets, gain 6 life and deal 6 dmg. You also get a new 9 mana Shudderwock in your hand.

So what is the effect of this? Well, you don't get to cast another Shudderwock for 1 mana this turn and then go off next turn. But you can try all over again next turn with the 9 mana copy. So in effect it delays your combo by 1 turn. That can be meaningful, but vs control it often isn't.

You certainly don't "lose on the spot", unless the opponent can end the game next turn.

It's worth noting that Zola works the same way as grumble, so if it goes off before the chain gangs you don't get the 9 mana copy either.

So it's a backup, but not a guaranteed one. Sometimes rng really doesn't want you to win

Don't Shudderwock BCs go off in order the minions were played? I've literally never seen the combo mess up against me...

No, they're random

God damn I must have run absolutely abysmal vs that deck then...

yea it's ~1/3 for them to get Grumble before Chain Gang

it feels incredible tho when they lose their combo and are now helpless

Well I dont think shudderwock shaman is bad I would play it in a tourny lineup.
If i made a lineup today it would probably be even warlock, shudderwock shaman , miracle rogue, and taunt druid.

it's a much better tourney deck than ladder but tourney meta is like 90% control
Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game) Quote

That happens in all tournament metas. what initially happens is the more controlly decks "feel" better to play because they give you more options even if their winrates are lower. Then wants the meta becomes control and combo saturated people build greedier decks to one up the other control decks and then bam someone wins a major with an aggro build.

really

Lol, now I feel dumb. I retract my earlier rant.

Sure, if all you did was proc two chain gangs and one grumble. But there are plenty of ways to stack the odds in your favor if you are given enough time.

Zola on chain gang to get an extra chain gang proc, zola into grumble to get a 1-mana zola as a failsafe, chain gang into grumble to get two extra chain gang procs, farsight into Zola, farsight into shudderwock etc.

And sometimes you just win with Hagatha and random spells.

ladder is actually unbeatable if you're in the dumpster with how messed up MMR is, this is crazy. people keep posting on reddit about it too and blizz continues to ignore it.

Blizzard not addressing it at all leads me to believe that the issue isn't with matchmaker, it's with too few people logging in to play the game.

it's so good. i took out guldan and have been using 1 scalebane.

probably could go 2x scalebane depending on how much control you're seeing.

peaked around #280 with it, fell, and then got apathetic. My winrate was pretty impressive before the final fall though. It's one of those sneaker decks that people are not playing for some reason.

If it got really popular, people would start mulliganing correctly against it and it probably loses some power. But for some reason right now almost no one is playing it.

omg I told you guys the MMR was messed up

like i said before, i think that problem is *probably* worse for the legend player. Although Iw as still being awarded 100+ points on a win against rank 1's. But much more loss.

It's pretty much hopelessly ****ed up, a big reason I stopped grinding this month. Shame too, I think I had a decent shot at high legend for a minute there. I won't play with this garbage though it's just way too annoying.
