On even turns, you're playing cards that are a little overstatted for their cost. On odd turns, you're playing those same cards plus a 1 mana hero power.

Could work.

Sooooooooooo are they just not going to include those cards in arena? Like what gives.

The first 2 months of ungoro? Did they nerf something that changed things or it took people that long to find boring, OP decks and stifle the meta?

Just got OTK'd from 57 health by a Priest running a Velen's and Mind Blast combo with Temporus. I couldn't figure out what he was going for so I just went as high as I could in health, and thought that 57 would be enough. I was very wrong because it turns out that the combo kills you from 80.

After such success with Jade druid, I got a quest for 5 Druid wins and I'm at 3-12 with it since.

it took people 2 months to refine decks and the meta didn't even really settle after then, just pre-existing archetypes were proven to be strong still.

for example, iirc pirate warrior (deck i got top 200 with yewwwwwwww) ended up having basically no bad matchups but it took the meta an absurdly long time to reach this equilibrium. I think this was due to stuff like quest warrior stifling it for the first month or so. for some reason it took people a long time to figure out murloc pally was good also. classes and decks came and went as late as 4 months into the expansion **** still hadn't really settled down.

Quest rogue was ****ty for about what, 6 weeks? but it was nerfed quickly-ish and since it was a difficult to play deck with extremely polarized matchups, it didn't really shake the meta up in a really horrific way, to my memory anyway. it was easy to counter for free wins if you were queuing into too many of them. it was more oppressive in the tourney scene, imo.

the first few months of post-rotation whispers of the old gods was pretty fantastic, and this fact gets understated because people hated yogg shenanigans so much.

I think the best time to play this game is right after a rotation, and the worst time is right before one. This year isn't so bad as last year when midrange shaman was king, or the year before that when secret paladin and combo druid were making the meta miserable. So they really have improved a lot, i think the state of this game is as good as it's ever been.

that said, i am really tired of this meta and haven't played much this expansion compared to the last two.

how to easily hit legend after an expansion/rotation hits:

look at all the refined, successful deck lists out there, take the one that loses the fewest cards or gains the strongest cards, add the strong ones in, profit off all the goofy **** people are going to try in the first week before some streamer hits #1 legend with x deck.

i don't think there's been an expansion month i havent hit legend super easily lol.

for this expansion it's probably going to be cubelock.

THE worst meta ever was this time last year when it was Reno mage, Reno warlock and pirate warrior trying to kill them before turn 6

Reno was so ****ing oppressive but people get all defensive about it

so I agree right before rotation is the absolute worst

Reno is still super annoying in wild. I played against a Reno hunter which I wrecked with a standard miracle rogue list.

Yeah I miss Reno despite him being so infuriating to play against at times. Also miss Elise Brann and Finley. LoE legendaries GOAT

Brann Historian Operative turn 10 the most toxic turn ever, would be even worse now

yea brann was broken. don't want to see that **** back in the game.

the odd number justicar is just lolsy. Like, what deck would that even enable? Control warrior no, it loses execute and sleep with the fishes, the two strongest control cards you can have.

Maybe taunt warrior? Warrior hero power is really the only one worth duplicating. Stonehill is odd, and there are some decent odd number taunt cards iirc. Loses bloodhoof brave though.

edit: just realized warrior is losing sleep with the fishes anyway

hmmm the more i think about it, it could maybe work but i pray to god it doesnt because i hate taunt warrior so ****ing much:

as well as stonehills, tar creepers, direhorn hatchling, etc. you kinda lose a lot of the control package, but you still get brawls and shield slams, and shield block.

floating mana every other turn just feels terrible to me though. I can't see how it will work. the upside doesn't seem strong enough.

the beast is druid not warrior

Ah ok. The even card build seems much more viable than odd, because at least you’re not floating mana every other turn.

none of the even/odd will be good yet but they will see 5 sets over their duration of Standard so at some point I am sure they will see some competitive play

I think the even odd stuff will be good. I actually love these kinds of forced deck designs but I understand why people don't. I like themed decks, be it beasts, elementals, etc.

One common complaint on the podcasts I listen to is that the design team kinda pushes archetypes super hard rather than letting the community come up with their own.

Either i just got supper lucky or blizzard has screwed its pack rewards up some how but the last three arena packs i opened all had legendarys in them.

I would be fine if they just deleted the entire Warlock class.

Doomguards upon Doomguards, never discarding any cards, and not paying mana for them.
