Mind you Tempo Mage is the first Mage deck I think I have ever liked. I have to get like 450 wins to get gold now

So I load up a very greedy warlock list at rank 18 in wild. I instantly get two wild kings bane mill rogues. I honestly can’t believe it. Is that deck that common or am I getting trolled by the match making gods. I get two matchups I’m like 99% to lose at rank 18.

You're doing it wrong man. Mage is the ****. I hit legend the first time with mostly dragon control Reno mage. Control mage is my jam. Been playing both thr nzoth and alanna versions this season and loving it.

To be fair to myself I'm playing a big spell mage that I created on my own, so that's probably the reason I'm stuck at 13 more than anything else.

Maybe I just have to suck it up and play a T1 deck if I want to rank up. Trying to hit the balance between having fun and playing a blah deck is tough.

you can't make effective decks on your own until you understand how tier 1 decks work and why.

the window for creating new decks is really wide right now since the nerfs - but that window evaporates usually within 1 or two weeks of an expansion, rotation, or meta shake up.

the odds of you creating a successful deck no one has ever thought of is pretty much 0.

There's always room for new decks. Even after metas settle.

Muzzy got legend with some dude spam paladin the other day and I think the meta had settled down enough from nerfs. Mitsu took an asian handbuff pala deck to strivewire tournaments to target Raza priests when that was the thing and it did fairly well

I think the problem is if you create new decks you have to make a checklist of the match ups, and if it doesn't beat things like control lock, you're probably gonna have a rough time. So you have to builds new decks with certain things in mind.

I'm sure recently there was some big archetype that came up mid-way through a season. Can't remember what though.

This is untrue.

Big chieftain evolve shaman came around after the meta settled in KTF. Another example is Zeta making the keleseth priest and other decks when he is bored of the meta. And the meta is definitely settled. You can predict what deck is being played pretty quickly once one or two cards are played.

Dog was playing a spiteful (i think) big spell dragon priest the other night, but he also was running double songstealers, and a package which made use of cabal shadow priests (w/pint size and twilights). Pretty sure Anduin was in there as well. Anyone know the exact decklist? He didn't have it listed off to the side and I can't find it online anywhere.

damn i knew i should've hit legend yesterday before the VS meta report came out. Was 3 wins away but had to stop because valentine's.

now it's gonna be nothing but paladins, RIP my big priest

luckily the skill level at 1-5 is among the worst I have ever seen playing this game. people seem completely lost without patches.

just hit legend with big priest have a 80% winrate this month with it.

i want to make a guide but it's rotating so whats the point :/ i will miss this deck so much.

here was the list that's won basically every matchup thrown at it:

2x potion of madness is way better than 2x silence. I've always hated silence in this deck.

anduin is a possible flex card, but I don't know right now what I'd cut. it was a lot better of a card when tempo rogue and 7 mana bone mare was a thing. RIP my golden anduin

my memory is bad but i think this is actually my first legend with priest, which is my main class. so i'm pretty happy.

I went 6-1 with your list then punted playing dudeadin. ****ing HATE playing aggro pally. Every time I play with or against it I get the nut low draw and they have a t4 board of 5 divine shield 2/2s. I somehow suck with it but crush with control mage which is supposed to be weak.

There may have been crappy jade shamans, but Big chieftain was October. KTF was August. I'd agree that you're not going to get T1 and maybe even T2 decks after the first couple of weeks of expansions, nerfs, and rotations. But there's a lot of decks that are capable of climbing on ladder that emerge at various point after the first couple weeks. Zeta especially really tinkers with priest builds all throughout expansions when he gets bored.
