when you are stating you it will be hard to get enough gold for the entry fee. When I started out i would switch between the servers and and clear the daily quest to reduce the time spent grinding constructed for gold

big reason i didnt get into magic/hearthstone is cuz there are so many freaking cards and it seemed like you could just buy certain overpowered cards. fixed # of cards and even playing field (even if dumb variance is included) has seemed more appealing. just trying to figure out best way to start as total noob. when i watch streams i have no idea whats going on, lol.

get classic cards/packs first, they for the most part won't go away.

arena is fine but it may take time to become a stable player.

constructed is going to be even harder early on when you don't have cards. if you want to play constructed eventually I would try and build 1 deck at a time that you enjoy playing. likely it's going to be easiest to build aggro decks early on without many epics or legendaries. zoo (without prince) and tempo/secret mage typically have the lowest barriers to entry. neither are amazing decks right now but they're playable.

Eater of Secrets is the tech card of this meta through the first 3 days. Obviously subject to change as things settle, but throw at least one in every deck.

Ive been F2P since i started playing back in the first expansion. I have about 85% of the cards and can usually craft 1-2 teir 1 decks per expansion. I play a ton though, usually 6 or so hours a day. Youll hit like rank 14-15 for the first month or 2 while you build your collection and improve your decks. How quickly you want to progress up the ladder will depend on how much time and/or money you want to invest though.

Arena is fun but theres the same steep learning curve involved as with constructed, and you are going to have to invest money (or grind gold like me) as well until youve become infinite and you might not even get there. Fwiw I average about 5-5.2 wins per run....so from my perspective, averaging 7 is really tough.

I also prefer arena but I think constructed is good for figuring our basic mechanics of the game and you don't waste any gold while you're figuring that out. Yeah you're going to lose games in constructed as you don't have many cards but you start figuring out what cards tend to be good and why. Also, you should be playing other beginners a reasonable amount when you're ranks 25-20.

I think they stratified the player base based on how big or good your collection is for the most part so when you have basic cards you should be playing others in the same bucket for a while. The new player experience sucks but that’s true with most collectible card games.

Just have warrior and mage to go on adventure

Good god, dungeon run is so much fun!

I opened 80 packs, got 10 legendaries, played like 3 games of ranked then have just been grinding the adventure and watching streams of people trying for the 30k challenge.

Has anyone else got Billy the theif (or something like that) in room 1? I lost to it as it was a steady stream of one eyed pirate guy, but haven't seen it since. Otherwise it always seems to be wee whelp or giant rat.

Yes played him a few times. The one I cant stand is Trap filled room, starts with a bunch of secrets on board and the hero power is a passive summon a 3/3 when ever a friendly secret is revealed. I have never beaten it and unless you get a secret eater or a ton of board clears I'm not sure how you could.

I may try the dungeon challenge. I'm pretty confident I can 1 shot at least 5 of the classes. so with a little luck I could squeak in there. I think the record is 11 attempts right now.

I have heard people say that Warrior is difficult in the dungeon runs. My first run with Warrior I ended up getting a really nice Dragon deck, and one of my first or second passives was that any minion that cost 5 or more instead cost only 5. That coupled with a Dragoncaller and 2 Deathwing, Dragonlords made for a very successful run. The 8th boss was the only one that put up a fight at all, but in the end I triumphed.

optimal strategy is probably to start with warrior, wait til you finish it, then begin your run from there.

have also had a difficult time with mage, because of that boss that completely ****s all over spells. burst damage is also not that great against the final bosses huge health pools.

imo some of the best perks for most classes are - +1/+1 to all minions, opponents minions cost 1 more, start the game with 1 extra mana crystal and double deathrattle.

things that seem good but aren't, double your starting health and minions are stealthed.

yeah the minions stealth thing has screwed me over a couple of times when i needed to play a taunt, had a taunt but it was useless.

Also, the AI makes extremely poor trades so stealth takes that advantage away from you

I did have a really good stealth run with Hunter where I had a Kel’Thuzad that they could never kill off so I just permanently got all my minions back every turn

I'm really struggling with Warrior I had the sickest deck 2 copies of your minions cost 1 and a bunch of great legendarys then I played into board clear against The Darkness and lost.

Best way to beat darkness is fatigue. Justicar's ring on warrior is one way to do that.
