Yeah arena is what i was thinking. Like sometimes a class has a common that defines their draft, sorta how priest had kabal talonpriest with the new expansion bonus and their runs would basically amount to how many KTs they would draft. But bonemare is neutral so its like take a -4 game penalty to your arena run if you dont get to draft bonemare

I don't understand how blizzard figures the cost of a card like Bonemare. A 5/5 body is typically about 5 mana and blessing of kings is 4. So the shouldn't it be about 9?

But it requires a minion to be the board to be effective. It probably should cost 8 because a minion being on board has a cost. It was a card people thought would be broken in arena and it is and it's so broken it's made standard in a number of decks for a number of classes.

They're totally inconsistent with mana costs, that's why UI is so broken--it's 17 mana of value.

A few cards that were too valuable have been put in HOF like rag, sylv, azuze drake. Boom was way too valuable for it's cost.

Other cards that bring much more value than their costs are many of the 1 drops and a few of the big drops like Onyxia or Alex. Tirion has a ton of value but can be silenced but a 5/3 weapon is worth what 6 or 7 mana alone.

Basically neutral or class cards that have been played in almost every deck are typically more valuable then there costs and the more common they are the most skewed it is to extreme value of their card.

You also have cards that have definitively been power creeped. Like the 5/4 taunt on text which was 5 mana but has a 4 mana brother.

A vanilla 5/5 is definitely closer to 4 mana than 5.

its closer to 3 than 5 these days. people need to start comparing to the cost of cards that are actually played. bonemare is exactly where it should be imo, it would not see constructed play at 8

Bonemare definitely wouldn't see play in constructed at 8. In arena, where vanilla 4 mana 4/4s see play, minions that have an immediate impact on the board and create huge taunts are just game-ending so often, like Primordial Drake and Bonemare and Steed.
