i think its very reasonable not to run 2 ARs, but if you dont, you must run 2 arathi weaponsmiths, right?

Re: Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game)

No, I was playing around with them and Malkorok but they're both kinda awkward because you don't want to play them on curve while downgrading a weapon. counting Upgrade and Nzoth's, there's 7 weapons in the deck.

1 Sir Finley *
1 Nzoth's First Mate 2x
1 Ugprade! 1x
1 Southsea Deckhand 2x
2 Fiery War Axe 2x
2 Heroic Strike 2x
2 Bloodsail Raider 2x
3 Argent Horseriders 2x
3 Bloodsail Cultist 2x
3 Kings Defender 1x
3 Frothing Beserker 1x
4 Kokron Elite 2x
4 Dread Corsairs 2x
4 Mortal Strike 2x
4 Bloodhoof Brave 1x
5 Arcanite Reaper 1x
5 Leeroy Jenkins *
5 Captain Greenskin *
6 The Black Knight *
7 Skycap'n Kragg *

If there's any flexibility I think I'd go -1 Horserider for Patches. Bloodhoof Brave is slightly awkward but he changed my win expectancy against Shamans quite a bit and has some synergy with Kings Defender. The Black Knight is invaluable in this deck; in fact, in reading reviews of other people's Pirate decks, I see a lot of comments from people saying the just lose to big taunt minios.

Skycap'n Kragg is marginal, but he's a good top deck in late game and gets the discount every once in a while. Think he's better than Malkorok in that spot.

I'd run 11 Kokron Elites if I could.

Re: Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game)

What's the best way to use Sir Finley's hero power change in pirate warrior? With the heavy weapon use I find armour to be a good power and rarely want to change it, meaning sir Finley often just sits in my hand. All the deck guides I read say Finley is good to keep in opening hand but none of them really explain how to use the hero power change.

Re: Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game)

^^^ u can get warlock power as deck struggles with card draw and runs out of gas sometimes.
Or hunter power to keep up the clock on their life total.
That's my guess played like 3 games of pirate warrior though am sure more exprienced guys can answer better.

^ Yeah, that's basically how I am using it but it tends to be situational in mid-late game, which makes me wonder why the deck guides say to keep it in yr opening hand. Doesn't seem wise to change hero power in early game.

Idk would love to get warlock on turn 1 or hunter. Get to keep card draw going if u need or just smash face extra 2 damage every turn seems good

I don't like that list at all. Sky capn is way to slow. The reason to run 2 x arcanite isn't that you want to draw two you want to draw it more frequently in my opinion that's way more important than not drawing two in the same game. Upgrade is just super good in this deck and not running 2 seems insane.

Sounds to me like you trade too much. This is a face deck. Sure against zoo or similar decks you fight for board maybe the first three turns than everything goes face. Its really just about the damage output. So hunter is by far the best hero power. Warlock, mage and druid are fine too.

with all due respect, that list is poor and your play strategy sounds poor. I get wanting to play your own way and thats obviously fine but you are leaving wins on the table

sorry just realized this is a different person posting.

you want hunter or warlock. you don't want to be hero powering before turn 5 or so anyway, and by then you are usually still a bit short on cards and damage. mage ping probably third then druid

Re: Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game)

Think from the current standard list you drop the horseriders to add anything new, so something like:

1x Sir Finley
1x Patches
2x Nzoth's First Mate
2x Ugprade!
2x Southsea Deckhand
2x Fiery War Axe
2x Heroic Strike
2x Bloodsail Raider
2x Faerie Dragon
1x Pawnbroker (new dude)
2x Bloodsail Cultist
2x frothing
2x Kokron Elite
2x Dread Corsairs
2x Mortal Strike
2x Arcanite Reaper
1x Leeroy Jenkins

Maybe drop a frothing for another pawnbroker if its good, or forget the pawnbroker and do greenskin or keep the horserider if pawnbroker sucks.

Horse riders are in the "standard list" ? I never ran them. Frothings on the other hand are core IMO. 4 health mean they are somewhat sticky and go out of control quickly

Re: Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game)

Captain Greenskin is essential IMO.

The Black Knight is amazing in this deck. The thing that kills Face Warrior is taunts.
He's sniped Tirion for lethal about 20 times for me now.

I've never seen Faerie Dragons in a pirate deck. I've seen pirates run in aggro dragon decks though.

Re: Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game)

Thanks all for the advice on using Finley in Pirate warrior. I def trade too much with that deck. Was playing it earlier today and thought to myself why am I playing control with a face deck? Warlock & hunter are def the powers to go for.

No talk about new cards today? Yesterdays were underwhelming but the 2/6 taunt for 2 is interesting and I love a murloc with a ping.

I guess a big advantage is you avoid battle cries but seems like the card is just meant as an anti aggro tool. It seems horrible otherwise. Seems like a worse version of that 2/8 deathrattle they have in the wild.

It's a Flamewreathed Faceless buff. you get a 0 mana 7/7 with no overload cost.

Re: Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game)

i believe we do not have a unique thread for the expansion, so these are the last 4 cards according to hearthpwn:

Vanilla 6/3 for 4. It has 9 stats, which is in line with Yeti. More attack than defense is generally slightly bad. It has 0 chance of ever making a single competitive deck, of course, and is probably below average for arena. 4/5 and 5/4 are better. A 3/6 vanilla would be interesting - like a water elemental without the freeze, but common rather than mage. Oh well

Random weakass taunt. The taunt tag is irrelevant, but it's a clear upgrade over Ironfur Griz. 1pt of attack for no beast tag. Obviously unplayable, slightly below average 3 drop for arena. Nothing special or fancy at all

After the buff to murlocs with the ninja legendary, this is a nerf I suppose to Neptulon of old and of course Murloc Knight of not that long.

It's an elven archer with 1 more attack and a murloc tag, or a rifleman with 1 less toughness for 1 less mana.

I think those cards are bad, so therefore, so is this.

Really sucks how EVERY interesting card is an epic. First card of this set where I have no idea if its really good and playable or complete trash.

Yeah sure thats one way to look at it.

Another is it's exactly the anti aggro tool people have been looking to find. It also is a combo destroyer, depending on what it pulls. (Ie alexstrazza or whatnot)

In general, like the 5/6 dragon, if you take away the average minion it pulls (and add charge or whatever since they get first play with it) and take away the stats, you basically need to...
-if you pull weakass unrealistic 1/1s, it's a 1/5, which is fine for 2 mana vs aggro
-against anything else, its probably a bad trade
-deathlords pulled after they died, allowing you to cheese it through silence or kill what popped up on your terms or heal the deathlord or return to hand and so forth, battlecry for opponent FAR worse.

Its probably bad. Might make a fatigue list. Not sure.

Re: Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game)

Dirty rat is probably bad. Its a bit like deathlord but having the effect as a battlecry and not a deathrattle is a significant downside. Like against pure face decks it's probably playable but against any deck running anything big its far too risky, like playing your opponent's highmane on turn 2.

This is probably the best thing to get from evolve or piloted shredder though lol

Re: Hearthstone?! (Blizzard online card game)

Dirty Rat's body is undercosted by something like 1.25 mana. It seems real hard to prevent your opponent from getting that value back from the battlecry. If you can't interact with the summoned minion that turn, then you're basically giving the minion charge too.

Maybe you can make it work in Control Warrior where he's ok on curve against aggro, and you combo him with brawl to suck the value out of the control decks

this in CW makes sense. then brawl to follow. also maybe brings crueltaskmaster back so you can play this and kill a flamewaker or w/e
