If you want to go truly frugal, just buy Karazhan and then dump gold and dust into Whispers of the Old Gods imo. If you're feeling frisky then buy League of Explorers too but it will be gone in 2017 so you are only getting 6-8 months of it now, but it certainly is the highest impact adventure. But Old Gods is only 5 months old and will be here until 2018 so the archetypes made from it (which are a lot) are going to be around for a while. That's my 0.02 at least.

Meta should get a decent shuffle after todays wing.

Curator and menagerie warden alone should shake things up.

Interested to see if zoobot makes it into any deck. Basically a pre-nerf sun cleric that can't target the buff but can buff potentially 3 dudes. Problem is, theres no deck that really wants that. Best case scenario i could come up with would be a dragon paladin that runs the 1-drop that changes hero power into murlocs, for the curve of t1 murloc guy, t2 faerie (lol 2 drops), t3 zoobot for a 2/4, 4/3, 3/3, best case scenario. Seems very underwhelming. I guess something like beast druid could run it assuming they also include finley, but beast druid wants to play raven t1 and mark t2 so zoobot t3 is again underwhelming.

Similarly, the dragon pally 3 drop on paper seems great, conditional 4-5 stats across 3 bodies, almost guarantees a target for a t4 buff. But with no good neutral or class 1 or 2 drops you are probably behind on the board and get crushed by any other strong opener. Maybe combine the dragon package and the secret package?

Yeah but that will never change. It's the very design of the game with its attacker advantage not the current set of cards that make just slamming stats on curve a very viable strategy

curator seems really niche to me. there are no good neutral beasts or murlocs. the only class that really can use murlocs are pallies.

one use i see is guaranteeing a card draw like alexstrazsa. or using it in a more defensive dragon warrior to draw a dragon + a fierce monkey

could be way off but you need to draw 2 cards for that card to make sense and then kind of build your deck in a way that can profit off those draws

toad
direwolf alpha
kodo
stranglehorn

druid has good beasts, so druid/hunter can play the card already without much issue

sir finley is played in a number of top tier decks right now

drake/alex/onxyia are all played in a decks with drake played a TON.

I appreciate the attempt with cards like Curator at least, even if it doesn't work well.

Ancient of lore was excellent as a 7 mana 5/5 draw two, so curator at 4/6 taunt should see play as long as the cards around it are good enough to support a deck. Even drawing two not three should be sufficient. Murloc knight and Alex, or Monkey and Alex, or for druid, a beast and an azure drake, should be enough.

Here's the Beast Druid I'm rolling with.

Most of the deck slots are pretty automatic

- I think you definitely run two Mulches before the first Wrath. You're trying to win the game before they get to cast free minion, you're soft to big taunts, and you don't have much use for cycling the Wrath. I don't like two Mulches though.

- At 3, Druid of the Flame is crap but Mounted Raptor is horrendously bad.

- I think Darnassus Aspirant is really good. You give your opponents lots of high priority targets early so something's probably gonna stick and let you snowball.

- Not sold on the second Savage Roar, if it's doing more than 6 damage you probably didn't need much help to win.

yeah, and i think you can also just pretty much throw a drake into any deck with a curator, since drake is a good card already and draws you another card. Murloc n'zoth pally w/ curator? Throw in a drake. Curator in Beast druid? Might be too slow, but hey how bout a Drake?

bgordn,

I think druid of the flame is just as bad. You almost never use dotf it as a 5/2, and otherwise its a carion grub which doesn't make most hunter lists anymore, and hunter has even more beast synergy. The 5/5 Fandral dream never happens either. Really, both suck, I guess they have some more synergy w/ warden now, but neither is a great target. Might as well just play horserider or skip the 3 slot alltogether and go heavier.

fwiw this was a top 10 legend deck posted a few days ago on /compHS

Its a shame every beast card is very straight forward. Cant use menagerie as a combo piece, its obly a value card

Just tested this and it's true: the curator will not draw Druid of the claw. I guess the untransformed minion is not considered a beast.

Reynad had a vid lately (it was recommended for me on youtube, no idea why lol) but it was a pretty damn good about micro and macro decision making, and the urge for a more skill intensive deck being the strongest if played at the highest level

the biggest curse (and oddly why it may be popular too) is just how ****ing easy it is to slam the highest minion on curve and just win

That's why midrange Hunter is so popular now, and secret paladin in the past.

The decks are both some of the strongest in the game overall but also the easiest to play, perfect combo for netdecking.

The easiest to play decks should never be the best decks as well, in a healthy game.

Kinda similar concept to deep stack poker I guess - if you feel you have a skill edge and make better decisions than yr opponent, you want to play in conditions that create more decision points.
