I guess it makes sense because they can't do much about your board... just didn't seem like it would be a great match up before playing it. Druid is like free win too.
You're running good on the BGH's. Not only are they in almost every deck that I've played against, but I've even found a few decks running two copies.

Im 11-1 on ladder, only loss was a missplay. I think I went 4-1 at a tournament yesterday with it, it got banned in the final.

I dont feel secret pala is equally consistent or unfair.

I think Secret Paladin is more unfair than anyfin, tbh. You can at least beat Anyfin before Anyfin happens, Secret Paladin can just crush no matter what.

Anyfin is very, very good.

Maybe just because I've been playing a lot of rogue but I feel like I haven't lost to Anyfin in months. Sometimes it's
just a watered down variant of secret / midrange that can't hang in the mid game and loses before it can land the combo.

This is bull****. BGH is really not that common at all.

Out of the 15 best decks (according to tempostorm), only two run BGH - those being Midrange druid and renolock. And those decks only run one copy of it.

Congrats on pulling a random list of decks and assuming that no one is teching them in response to the meta or using different decks for the initial beginning of season climb. Cause, you know, everyone must be running the exact same copy of the deck, obv.

I've seen BGH in MR Druid, Renolock, Control Priest, Tempo Mage, Control Warrior, Reno Mage, MR Paladin, and Patron Warrior. It's gotten to the point where I'm having to bait out BGH on a Fire Ele, because DR Boom is getting BGH'd almost 100% of the time.

I haven't seen a face shaman or anyfin in my climb, nor have I seen ANY of the "Tier 3" decks.

Yeah, I'm considering one, but I don't know what to cut. It would only really help a ton in the mirror.

When was the last time you saw a control warrior list without BGH in it?

Youre right about that, missed it. Point still being, its not in as many decks as that other dude claimed. Maybe people tech it in at his ranks though. At rank 17 or so.

I was climbing at the same pace as Vix (We were identical ranks for most of Saturday), so not only are you wrong, but I knew exactly what meta we were playing. The BGH's were out there, in force. Luckily for vix, he didn't run into them.

Even more LOL considering that pretty much everyone is/was at rank 17/16 because ITS THE START OF THE NEW SEASON

I spent like 6 hours on Xmage today. The stale meta lead me to MTG thanks Blizzard.

I haven't played MTG since I was 12, but I did qualify for the pro tour once.

there are more viable hearthstone decks than magic archetypes in standard

I don't have any opinion on whether or not MTG or Hearthstone is better, but MTG is a lot more fun for me right now because it's new.

Right now I'm running Black/White Control with the Westvale Abbey/Secure the Wastes combo, Gideon and Sorin. I don't really know what I'm doing but it's basically playing Control Warrior.

The combo is Grom, Gideon is Sludge Belcher and Sorin gives you infinite Shield Slams until you run out of stuff to kill then he lets you lifetap except your opponent is the one that takes damage.

The mirror is even worse than a CW mirror.

I've been watching some pro games recently. I'm curious who's actually good.

One thing that tilts me is how outrageous some of these guys' timing tells are. Your opponent can see the patterns of you mousing over hand/looking at cards etc. HOW HARD IS IT TO ROPE EVERY TURN AND NOT SPAZZ CLICK !?!? Or if we think roping is bad for the game then at least strive for some consistency. And obv the cards go in left->right so it's always possible to make educated guesses about your opponent's hand.

So, obv there are two ways to gain an edge, a) what decks to bring/ when to play them, and b) cardplay.

In a figured-out meta like this one, edge A gets smaller. In more wide open metas, A gets larger.

There are also some subskills of B, like for example Lifecoach is kind of terrible at spotting lethal (for a good pro) but really good at planning multiple turns ahead and putting his opponent on a hand, and also at managing greed/risk.

So, Thijs seems like significantly the best right now. He's 254/144 for 65% which is pretty crazy IMO, that's both by far the largest sample size and nearly the highest winrate of anyone (obv he runs sick too). I think he's pretty good at everything, and prob gets a lot of help with the deck choices from Lifecoach who is prob the best at that.

Lifecoach prob 2nd best imo. Seems like he's running kinda bad right now. He just torches games now and again through being too slow or overthinking things, and I think that lowers his WR.

I kind of don't think anyone else is doing a ton of science.

I enjoy watching Xixo also for example cause he's such a fast counter and has good 1-turn EV mechanics, and never misses a lethal.

Beside those you mentioned I think orange, super JJ, ostkaka and stancifka are good, purple too but he is super annoying.

Yes, this. I've been playing anyfin for a couple weeks now and it can be rather ****-tier other than the combo. I think it's nearly unplayable without two healbots because you get burned down a lot before you get to the combo. Removing healbots by itself would hit that deck hard even if they left murk eye alone.

There was one guy at Blizzcon last year that roped every turn and he got a lot of flack. The stakes are nearly always low even in tournaments so meh.

Thijs is someone that I've noticed making an effort to not leak info. He'll actually bluff cards with the mouse over tells. On the other hand it's crazy how often a Druid player will give away he has an Innervate by doing his turn and then roping with one or zero mana left or whatever.

Yeah I have been really underwhelmed by most players, at least compared to the poker players I knew when I was a professional. I think the players get good at mechanics by playing obsessively and having a social circle of obsessives, but they're not very good at thinking about the game. If you watch card reviews by anyone besides Lifecoach it becomes really glaring.
