Standard is getting ridiculous. Just played 8 games and 6 were against Paladins. Hopefully this miniset does something to fix the balance, otherwise just sticking to Battlegrounds.

Priest in a nutshell:

Priest: I get to do all this cool stuff and the rope is going to time out before I can finish this epic discover chain that started 4 cards ago but I haven't found the perfect exact right answer yet!

Right now, the game would be better if priest was just deleted. They've botched priest's redesign so badly. Since the rotation, every class has gone away from created by stuff, except for priest which has just dove face first into being the created by class.

Illucia is just the most toxic card ever printed that ~everyone hates, yet it somehow still exists.

The samuro apotheosis combo is beyond broken - if the priest has it, it just renders the first 6-7 turns of the game meaningless.

IMO, combo priest was the most interesting priest deck, and should have been the direction the class went. That deck was what priest should be about: board control, sticky minions, punishing finisher for classes that ignore board. They messed up with Amet, that card was mega broken. But the combo priest decks that existed before that were really cool and super fun to play.

Having priest lack a natural finisher and rely solely on exhausting the opponents resources as their win condition is a very poor choice.

It's kind of a flaw in the original design of the game. HPs were supposed to be a mana sink so games wouldn't be all about curving out but as cards got better HPs got worse so you're punished more for not building curvestone decks.

Just finished a game where I thought I might have possibly found a way out by freezing a board with a miraculously discovered Cone of Cold.

Perfect, this might be about the only thing I could have found that will save me until the next couple of turns.

*Prep*

"I don't have enough mana. I don't have enough mana."

...wtf?...

Oh, Prep discounts by 2 now...****

Concede.

I have played this game since the Beta and have known for like 7 years that Prep discounts the next spell by 3 mana. Now I know that I didn't know. Is this how you find the fun by trying other classes?

I think this is pretty insightful analysis. Raza Priest was overpowering when it had a reliable way to deal out significant damage. It's lots of fun and games, discovery in to more discoveries, but eventually they peter out.

You aren't getting Mass Resurrection any more, so what spell are you going to discover that actually elevates your deck full of smoke and mirrors to be competitive with the deck across the board that's built to actually *do* something.

Priest gets in to this stall where they're just begging their opponent to play something, anything, so the Priest can start playing their own cards. Seems like your hand will fill up with "answers" but very little in the way of "threats".

In the pie chart of "Why did Priest win this game?", the Pac-Man sized piece is when the opponent ran out of stuff and died to fatigue or elected to concede before that happened. The other piece is when you actually did 30 damage to them.

Oddly enough, I was looking at Hand of A'dal on Wednesday night, thinking, "We're going to remember this as a high point of power level for 2 mana. A significant buff on a minion AND drawing a card." I was not aware that it was going to be nerfed.

On that note, I like that they are taking a much more liberal approach to balance with more frequent adjustments. However, I would like to see a revamp of the auto-dusting system. Currently, there is only one button that dusts more than one card at a time, and that button dusts ALL cards in your collection that are in excess of what would go in a standard deck. I have been unwilling to hit that button because I want to maximize the amount of dust refunds that come with nerfs. But if they are going to be doing 3 or 4 rounds of nerfs each expansion, I will never feel comfortable hitting that button because more nerfs are likely a month away, or maybe less.

How about we get to put some parameters on the cards that we dust? I would like the ability to mass disenchant Wild-only cards, or Standard-only cards, or select by rarity, or class, or set. I am disappointed that they have not made any of those types of improvements to the disenchanting system in the last ~5 years.

Seems they've broken wild again with the new stealer of souls card. Play SoS and plot twist and draw into malganis or the 3 mana 4/3 that makes your hero immune and just be able to vomit your whole hand for free.

Seems like a really stupid way for that interaction to work. If your paying health to play a card, you should still lose health even if your hero is immune, imo.

Shame that my favorite game mode has been unplayable for over a year. Don't think it'll change.

I’ve been playing a Nzoth Reno DH which is okay versus a lot of decks. The miracle druid deck when it hits is so ridiculous, I can’t believe they allow it.

Someone played that on me the other day, I think it was a discovered one from that Priest spell. I didn't know what it was at first and thought it was going to rope me, until I read the card fully.

Been playing a Warlock deck lately that generates a bunch of Tickatus (Tickatii?). I've got a pretty good win rate with it but I feel so dirty.

Made legend mainly with Demonlock Deathrattle deck. From bottom to 5 platinum I really had a lot of struggles but the last few days I’ve been destroying all the warriors, Priests, Druids, occasional Pallys and spell mages and control locks and probably 50/50 with face hunters. The giant swing that you get with death speaker blackthorn as well as Illidari. Illidari crushes so many classes, you get 2 plus another one with nzoth.

Quite a few changes and fixes, especially in BG. But the most important bug fix can be found at the very bottom of the list:

Is this game for real when grinding towads a legend as I am aware some made it with a basic Hunter some years ago and when I tried with about a top deck, I went somewhere in the middle before I stopped, and it seems to be just a matter of grind; skill and partly the deck making little to no difference after one is decent? Is it made so, or do as many as expected stay below the legend with top decks even if they try? Is below the legend some weak level possibly and so it is just a matter of weeks before one is at legend? The only reason to invest the time is to see if one gets there, and then maybe even better, so one can think one is pretty good, like a talent test, or is it just too easy and so a worthless achievement?
