So personally I think Nefarian is pretty garbage and doesn't deserve play even in Dragon decks. I made a substitution that ended up working out really well!

double mistcaller in tavern brawl, lol so nasty--mistcaller is nasty in non construction, but has it's obvious flaws in construction.

Turn 5 mind vision, get Murlock knight, turn 6 Murlock knight, hero power in to second murlock knight, turn 7 double inspire and out pops 3rd murlock knight, opponent conceded.

Playing arena, priest opponent does the following:
Turn 1: Shieldbearer
Turn 2: Coin out Thrallmar Farseer
Turn 3: Velen's Chosen Farseer, attack for 8.
Turn 4: Velen's Chosen Farseer, Inner Fire Velen's Chosen, attack for 22.

0-3 with this deck

http://www.heartharena.com/arena-run/gl5ou1

I'd take that deck all day (edit: oh thought I had a couple more 2 drops. Still, I didn't miss a 2 drop in any loss, lol).

Lost to a warrior final game, ouch.

heathstone is a massively flawed game for 1 major reason - the number of games that are unwinnable is staggeringly high.

I just played a game as a paladin vs a mage who coin->unstable portal->van cleef.

That's a turn 1 6/6. Other than not having a turn 2 play (despite mulliganing my entire hand, etc.) this is a 100% a loss. There is no skill involved, there is no thinking, just a total waste of time and a good amount of grief accompanied.

The more RNG cards that are in the game, the less I like it. Just to round this out to not make it an entire whine, there are (nearly...) an equal number of auto-wins for me. Spots where my draw is just perfect from the opening and nothing else matters.

The midgame where 2 sides are either fairly balanced or 1 side has a slight edge are fun. The times it's completely over by turn 3 are not. This is a design flaw.

Also it's worth noting coining portal without a turn 2 followup (as he did not) is pretty awful but I guess he just knew he'd get the perfect 3 drop which is why he's so much better than me

So, you're saying that it was the correct play, thus not awful?

only one competetive deck in the game with zero rng cards...........but yeah, I was thinking about that the other day, there are some games where one or both draws will determine the outcome nearly 100% of the time. I don't think that speaks to a design flaw inasmuch as it speaks to the variance invovled in any card game and you just have to shrug those off, it's like getting set over set or something.

Where I think there is a general design flaw is when you couple that with the fact that people can make such incredibly blatant mistakes (like coining a portal, turn two quickshot face or w/e) and still win and even achieve quite high ranks making plays such as that due to rng/draws/matchup rng etc.

It's not a bug it's a feature. These "flaws" are fully intentional. Blizzard wants as many morons playing as possible for as long as possible. Morons have a lot of disposable income. If you stomp them every game just because you can do simple maths they ain't gonna come back.

Couldn't sleep last night, so logged in at like 4am to kill some time. Learning patron warrior and matched up w another legend player running Priest.

Proceed to play the slowest game ever, all combo pieces near the bottom of the deck, allowed myself to get milled for two patrons, still had enough to win except I miscounted available mana and ended up short at the end. Most embarrassing game I think that I've ever played.

It's a tiny bit better of a play than you suggest, because if he gets a 4 or 5 drop with the portal, then he'd have a 2 drop.

It'll happen. I was 1 star from rank 2 when TGT hit and tanked back to rank 7 without winning 2 in a row. Never was able to climb back to higher than 5. At rank 15 I might break my computer though.

I understand the upside of the play, it just seems weird that a tempo mage basically would gladly give up all tempo (to a paladin, nonetheless) if not for super rng.

Was not the point of the post, was a general dissatisfaction with all the RNG

I agree, there's too much RNG in Hearthstone. So, how do we get people to play better games like Solforge, Spectromancer, Prismata, Hero Academy, Android: Netrunner, etc., etc.?

I play Hearthstone because: the community is so big, I can find a new decklist on the internet faster than I can put them into the client; I can find a game on a second's notice 24 hours a day; it's short enough to finish a game while I'm on the toilet and not get me trapped in the stall for an hour; I can play on my computer, my phone, or my ipad, and share account access and playerbase across the three.

I don't play Hearthstone because it's the best, most competitive, most skillful game.
