Re: This Guy's Deck is Crazzzzy (Arena Banter)

Last pick of the draft. I think all 3 choices are reasonable. Deck is really fast with no minion over 5. Only 2 weapons (double light's justices). What should I take?

Re: This Guy's Deck is Crazzzzy (Arena Banter)

hmm interesting i prolly take thermaplug plus bonus points since we never play it in constructed. I'd go leeroy next since its a fast deck wouldnt bother with greenskin with only 2 weapons.

Re: This Guy's Deck is Crazzzzy (Arena Banter)

what 5s do you have?
thermaplug seems like it would be dropped to late in the game to have alot of impact. i mean with that deck you either kill the opponent around turn 9 anyway or you are very likelly in a dire situation.
so basicly in half of the games you will never even get the chance to drop him and when you get a chance to drop him he is likelly not doing a lot in some additional a cases.
so its between leeroy and greenskin and thats pretty close to be honest.
on one hand 2 weapons arent a lot with 3 weapons i think its greenskin by a significant margin, but the lights justices have a lot of charges so thtas a plus.
on the other hand you seem to have a rather fast deck and a finisher like leeroy is nice in these kind of decks. everytime you dont use him to kill your opponent he is kind of ****ty though.
i think in summary it really depends on what 4 and 5 drops you have. if you have a solid foundation of good 4s and 5s i propably go with leeroy. if you think dropping a greenskin without a weapon on 5 might end up beeing your best option a decent amount of the time because the geerall quality of 4s and 5s is lacking in your deck i think its greenskin.

Re: This Guy's Deck is Crazzzzy (Arena Banter)

leeroy>greenskin>>thermaplugg imo
you have a few ways to get rid off the 1/1s that leeroy spawns or use them to your advantage (juggler, light's justice, raging worgen, ghoul, consecration) and it's a good unexpected finisher. I'd never play around more than 4 dmg from hand by a paladin. also lets you use blessing of wisdom/kings when you dont have a board

Re: This Guy's Deck is Crazzzzy (Arena Banter)

based on what we can see i think leeroy is the pick here pretty much for finishing ability. thermaplug is terrible with given picture. you dont want to get in long games with your deck. if you have a chance to play him you likely already lost. greenskin is not far behind leeroy imo. just feel leeroy fits slightly better

Haven't played this one out yet but seems like it will go far. Curious if anyone has input on the decisions though, a lot of times I was really not sure what to do.

your draft is insane. i would take 2 different than you - the cult master over chugga early, and the abusive over missiles later

Re: This Guy's Deck is Crazzzzy (Arena Banter)

Somehow managed to go 2-3.

Losses: cheesy Shaman with big Minions and Doomhammer finisher (really close), Priest with multiple Mind Controls and multiple Velens backed by a bunch of Temple Enforcers, and Warrior who started Micro Machine / Warsong / Senjin / Axe Flinger when I had no early removal (turn 5 concede).

Sometimes I cant tell if I run bad or if I just really really suck at Hearthstone.

I thought this was a somewhat interesting spot. It's pick 17, and while our deck so far has a lot of potential, the curve is really brutal right now with no 3 drops. What should I pick?

I'd go echo. Let's you play a value game with your 2 flamestrikes. Spellbender can lead to some funny turn 3 concedes against priests, but usually it's kinda underwhelming.

No confirmed incompetence just went 1-3 with a better Paladin deck for back to back 1-3s.

Grim Patron is broken in Mage. Paladin, Rouge, and Hunter need combos to board clear and Warrior only has brawl.

I thought about it for quite a while but ended up going with spellbender. I was really aware of having no three drops, and I tend to think it's pretty useful, particularly against some of the classes you see at 7+ wins (blessing of kings, fireball, polymorph, even things like blessing of might can be a huge tempo swing). It's probably weird calling a card that doesn't do anything right away a choice made in the name of tempo, but I think it contextually makes sense once we throw in the potential for mana wyrms, apprentices, kirin tor mages and mad scientists - particularly compared to echo. And when I doubt I tend to prefer the higher tempo option.

With the way my deck panned out I think Echo was the better option, and going back I think I'd pick it and just commit to playing a slower, more value-based game like you said, but I think it was still an interesting spot *shrug*

in the arena?
i dont know man i consider grim patron a pretty ****ty card in the arena. dropping a 3/3 for 5 is terrible. droping a 3/2 and a 3/3 on seven is nothing to get exited about either.

Re: This Guy's Deck is Crazzzzy (Arena Banter)

It turns Mages hero power into create a 3/3. The value comes next turn when you get a two mana 3/3 and if you have a bomber it can be three 3/3s for two mana. It's situational sure you want to be dropping it on to an empty board but if you can you have pretty much won against anyone who can't clear a 3/2 and a 3/3 in one turn. For Paladin, Hunter and Rouge that means they need some kind of combo.

What's your win rate guys? Since I came back at the Beg of the month I have a 60% win rate in arena. Not sure if that's good or bad.

Re: This Guy's Deck is Crazzzzy (Arena Banter)

Since Jan 1st Im 301-137 for a 68.6% win rate. Mage is my best @ 73.6%, although Paladin, Rogue, Druid, and Hunter (small sample) are north of 70. My big loser classes are Warrior and Warlock (not many games there, but 50% in 2015 and barely north of 50% lifetime.

There is such a huge discrepancy in Arena strength it's disappointing. I don't WANT to pick Mage and Paladin EVERY SINGLE TIME, but doing anything else is a flat out competitive disadvantage.

I waver back and forth between really enjoying arena, since it's a very cool idea making your own deck and so on, and really hating it because some games feature such wildly divergent strength in decks.

Re: This Guy's Deck is Crazzzzy (Arena Banter)

also, different subject, but i have picked dragon's breath a few times lately and it has pleasantly surprised me. it is very consistently a 3 mana 4 damage spell, which isn't great, but is not bad. a few times it's been a big tempo play, and the easy synergy with apprentice/bolt/ping/breath for a clear or w/e is very real
