I think it depends on class tbh. Lacking that deathwings prolly the best choice most of the time

I had a 3/14 Taunt Burly Rockjaw as Priest against a Paladin... Sat there playing nothing with a SWChamp/GodTrogg/Archmage board for like 5 turns while he played out his hand and I killed it for free every turn. Fun times.

Last game was particularly nice as it came against the guy who gave me my first loss. Was nice to get some redemption, particularly because I made a few pretty bad misplays in the first loss.

Highlight of the run was definitely getting Jaraxxus out of the Bane of Doom and then giving it the old reversing switch for 15 to the face.

Snagged a 12 win finally. Started off 0-2 vs two decks that got off uncontrolled Patron's on me early and then rattled the rest. I about raged after going down 0-2 with this beast.

12-1 on EU. Mage is OP, nothing to see here. The one loss was a slight misplay against a super aggro rogue deck, maybe could've gone 12-0. 395 gold, 2 packs. I'll take it! Played it w/ Pry, it's def more fun to co-play arenas I think. There were a couple of interesting draft choices (like shredders over fireballs) and I don't really regret any of them

also, frostbolt is ridiculous.

egg is kinda weak, i did ping it several times. i think the choices were like that, flying machine, or billy. something like that, so it was an obvious pick. i like it in decks with a lot of early game though as strictly anti aoe

quick shot is ****ing insane. it might be enough to single-handedly turn hunter into a top class in the arena.

Sat down with my mother after Easter to do her first ever Arena run. Yes my mother plays Hearthstone, deal with it. We went 12-2 with this Paladin deck. Lots of cards missing and I have no idea what they were since this was a couple days ago. I know there was a Cult Master, Mech Yeti, and a Stormwind Champion. We drew approx 1 billion cards off of Cult Master, and got the Lightwarden + Truesilver combo far more times than expected.

Rewards weren't exactly what I was hoping she would get as a pretty new player.

Finally got a 12 win arena, with Rogue of all classes.

Rewards:

Not pictured in the deck screenshot - 1 Sprint, 1 Stormwind Champion, 1 Archmage, 1 Spectral Knight and 2 Silver Hand Knights. I misclicked in the draft when I took the Patriarch over a Fan of Knives, but didn't even matter.

And yeah, variance is definitely going to affect some decks, even a really good deck is going to lose some % of the time, etc. Which isn't to say it isn't worth reviewing your play afterwards, but you can definitely only win a few games with a good deck and have it not be your fault.

The tier scores in heartharena, I'm not really sold on them as a metric for performance. I'm sure there's some correlation, but I doubt it's a strong one. I'm unsure where the disconnect is beyond certain playstyles suiting certain players differently, but I wouldn't give up on a deck with a score <60 until the sludge belcher sings.
