I believe warrior is a favourite over mech mage as well, but my sample size is like 150 games and I just spent way too much time explaining to a guy on reddit that his 20 game sample size does not mean his 72% winrate against warrior is statisically releveant.

Im going to some local LAN event this sunday and was just thinking which classes to take (4class, 1 ban system).

Didnt play much of a warr for like 2 weeks now so as i understand:

Warrior is a dog vs druid, shaman, ctrl paladin and maybe priest? (i had big problems vs mid hunter too)
Warrior is a huge fave vs oil rogue and freeze mage
Warrior is slight fave vs facehunter, mechmage
and quite even vs handlock/zoo/mid paladin

Would you say this is right?

Warrior isn't a dog to control paladin at all. Nor priest.

Shaman and Druid, ya. Those are the toughies.

Everything else you say seems reasonable. I like to think more than slight favorites in those matches but thats prob just ego.

Zoo with the nerfs is prob a dog. Used to be really tough

I swear i've only run into like 2 Zoo since the nerfs. I'm starting to mulligan for Handlock/Demonlock. I don't even know if there are new good lists, but if it was just the same old list I agree Warr might have an edge now w/o UT getting out of control.

I think people that played Zoo are playing Mech mage probably now.

Well i played quite a few ctrl paladin vs warrior and only way i lost was if warrior somehow rushed me which doesnt happen a lot of times.

Pretty sure the last time I asked "what's the best deck to beat control warrior?" a few months back, the answer was control paladin. It seems obvious that if the cards match up evenly, the paladin hero power dominates the warrior hero power when the decks are exhausted.

maybe i jsut haven't seen a true control paladin in a long time.

I think the "favorite" in the Priest vs Warrior matchup is just dependent on tech choices. Did the Priest tech in chows which are pretty dead vs Warrior? Is the Priest running 2 thoughtsteals? Is the Priest running MC? Is the Warrior running Gorehowl which destroys Priest? Just depends on a lot of things.

I'm probably on the wrong side of variance but I do really bad against Mech Mage with Warrior. How are you teching against them?

It's the only match up I don't feel comfortable going into it, like everything else I feel even on a bad day im getting a flip, whereas MM I'm getting just under 1/3 over a small sample and don't think I'm much above 40% long term, if that.

That said I've had some great luck in other games, like 15 wins in 16 clearly ain't sustainable, but I think my deck needs a tweak or two just against that single opponent.

The only thing I'm running that is anti-mech mage is 1x explosive sheep, which is decent in all of the aggro matchups and very nice against paladin.

I would recommend playing some Mech Mage so you can get a handle on what their weaknesses are.

The only time priest is a favourite against warrior is when they run an extremely greedy deck. 2x Mind Control basically destroys control warrior.

Control Paladin was a favourite vs warrior pre-gvg, but since they've teched in stuff that makes the deck a bit more aggressive, I think warrior has a slight edge.

I think Priest is generally quite favored over CW, depends on the list but the average list is favored by a good bit.

Confirmed. I have spent ~$350 on buying packs and I have an all gold ctrl war deck. GnG cards not decked out in gold yet though.

Naxx, largely due to Death's Bite, turned a matchup that was a coinflip or worse into a favourable matchup for the warrior. As I previous said, the only way priest can get a really huge edge in the matchup is to play incredibly greedy, which means losing to everything that's not super slow control decks.

Since whenever Hearthstone Deck Tracker started actually tracking stats, I have a 56% winrate over 200+ games against priest. Not a huge sample, but large enough to ascertain that it is at worst a coinflip and certainly not a favourable matchup for the priest.

Full list runs between 14k and 18k dust, so even if you had to craft every single card somehow, at worst you're looking at about 160 packs.

echoing what remp said, just under 100games vs priest i win 63.7% of the time. it has been my 2nd or 3rd best matchup

Played 56 games today with my "**** the Meta" warrior list:

Still on the fence with Kezan Mystic. I drew it in six games total against relevant classes and it straight up won me five of those games, in one actually allowing me to survive with two health for three turns when I would have been guaranteed dead with any other card remaining in my deck against a face hunter.

Obviously Druid was a huge leak today! Variance is a mother****er, but seriously I ran pretty much as bad as you could possibly run in those games.

Hunter and Mage are pretty much blowouts with this deck. Explosive Sheep is straight up amazing vs mech mage, as even if you don't manage to get copied with Mirror Entity, you can often combo it with death's bite/whirlwind for a decent board clear on turn 4/5.

I normally run Ysera and Alex, but cut them since early in the season since 75%+ of matches are against aggro. Instead I swapped in the two shredders and they've been working really well. I know a lot of Warrior players are running bomb lobbers, but it seems like such an underwhelming and reactive card to me.

Could probably consider cutting Brawl. It's one of those cards that I hate having to have in my deck, like BGH, but as soon as I cut it, I get punished.

I don't think silence is particularly valuable this early in the season, so Kezan is going in the slow generally reserved for Owl / Spellbreaker.

81% versus NotDruid is pretty awesome. Seems weird to me to only have 2 cards that costs more than 6 in Control Warrior though. I thought the theoretical strength of Control Warrior was its ability to control board and maintain life until it can start dropping bomb after bomb. This is more like midrange tempo warrior.

So today things went quite well but there was this really weird trend of people playing incredibly greedy control decks at rank 10-12. Priests with 2x Mind Control, Paladins with 2x Lay On Hands.

It was very mind boggling, and obviously the deck I posted above can't really compete with those lists, so to entertain my chat, I made the greediest control warrior list I could think of:

Obviously it's mostly for the lulz, and I only played four games with it before the normal onslaught of mages and hunters resumed, but Deathwing actually was pretty effective!

Continuing with the more midrange Warrior I posted upthread, I made a couple changes. I found that most games that go extremely late against were pretty unwinnable anyway, so I dropped brawl, and added Harrison. Normally I would just sub him out for Loatheb when one is better than the other, but Harrison, at worst, gives me an extra midgame body and at best can win against a huge portion of the meta atm.

Kezan Mystic is still doing amazingly well against Hunter and has kept me at a very high winrate against them, and is also pretty nice versus Mech Mage. This deck is probably strong against midrange hunter than face, but both are very very positive.

Druid has not been a problem for the last couple days. I realise this is variance, but I do believe the Shredders help a great deal in this matchup, as they often force the druid to spend early turns using removal rather than developing.

Priest is basically gone from the meta at the moment, but the midrange build does extremely well against the current priest. They generally just can't keep up with the constant onslaught of strong minions.

Slow Paladin and Warrior lists are the main problems for this deck. You have to win by turn 8 or 9 or it's almost a guaranteed loss.

Oil Rogue is still a pretty big dog to warrior; I ran pretty bad today in that matchup imo, but I ran pretty well against Shaman, which should be roughly a coinflip most of the time.

Warlock is in a weird place right now. On ladder today, I faced demonlock, handlock, zoo, and one guy running a deck that incorporated aspects of all three. This deck seems to be much better vs the rare Zoo deck you run into, and not terribly better or worse than slower warrior decks vs the other two.

I <3 that the decktracker shows different versions of your deck now.

This isn't control warrior, but I don't think it's worth having a 2nd thread for warrior, so here's my current deck:

Has been working surprisingly well! Currently 7-3

Tinkered with a Grim Patron deck today with Bobbo, 11-3 overall, 7-1 in its final version. Pretty fun to play, lots of card draw

Battle rage has been amazing in this deck
