What is crafting and enchanting cards?

What's ladder play?
You craft cards from dust. You disenchant cards to get dust to make cards that you need. Cards have different dust values going from basic (none) to golden legendary (1600). Right now you can't really dust cards from the adventures but going forward you can--there are about to be 2 modes, the wild which means every card is available to use and standard which limits the number of cards to the essentially the last 2 calendar years. Standard was instituted to make the game more newbie friendly.

Ranked play is a system in which has 2 systems--one is a system where you gain ranks based on wins--1 win equals 1 star but from ranks 6-25 you can gain extra stars for winning more than 3 games in a row--depending on how you finished the previous month allows you to skip ranks each month. If you hit legendary then the system is all elo, legendary rank #1 is the highest possible rank and it can go up to an unlimited number of legendaries--every end of the month on the China server there is more than 10k legendary players.

When you win you gain stars and as you win, you go down in rank. Ranks 20-25, you can't lose stars for losses and there are 2 stars. From ranks 19-15 there are 3 stars and ranks 14-11 are 4 stars and 10-1 are 5 stars. At rank 5 the win streak bonus ends. There is definitely a Hearthstone wiki that explains this.
