For beginner type decks, I think Loatheb is better than Emperor... I'd unlock Naxx first as well

Face hunter minus Leeroy has got to be easy as hell to throw together. Do the first Blackrock wing and grab quick shot, maybe.

Naxx is such better value than BRM, at least right now. So many staple cards in Naxx and not that many in BRM. Almost wish I bought 35 packs with the gold instead of BRM.

IDK, BRM could be good we don't know yet. Naxx's strengths/weaknesses have been solved.

I think BRM has a few great cards already and I can see some others being good as the meta shifts. But for now, Naxx is definitely better.

A couple questions:

1. How exactly does the matchmaking work? I recently started playing again and I am pretty much a newb all over again. I forget what all the cards do and I have quite a few, but I don't even know how to think about building a real deck. I started at Rank 25, lost one game and then went and found a Priest deck and put that together. I ended up winning like 6 games in a row and got all the way to Rank 21 before I started running into crazy good decks and lost like 5 in a row before I finally won another to get to Rank 20. When I was Rank 21 I kept getting matched up against people who were Rank 20 and they were all really good decks. Will it change up now that I can actually lose stars?

2. I have 880 gold. What is the best way I can put that to use to start getting some of the newer cards? I haven't played any Naxx or Blackrock yet as I have trouble fighting the bosses. There is no way I can play Arena as I don't know enough about the cards right now to be able to pick a good deck.

Edit: All of my heroes are level 10 or more.

With that said I ended up finding a Mage deck and beat the last 2 bosses in the first Naxx wing and then finished the first two Class Challenges. Now I have to buy everything else. I think I need to save 700 gold for something else -- maybe buying packs?

You get matched with people at the same rank. Rank 20 gets you that months cardback so a lot people will just play enough to get it, this means you meet a lot more experienced players with lots of cards at rank 20 than the following ones. At the start of the season you will meet better decks at low ranks than at the end because the ladder resets every month, players at ranked 5 go back to rank 17 or 16.

There isn't really a right way yo spend your gold it will depend on your goals. If your main goal is to get every card you should spend you gold on arena because when you have a good arena winrate you will get a lot more card packs than you would in constructed. If you goal is to make a viable constructed deck and don't want to spend weeks learning how to play arena you might be better off buying packs. What packs you buy depends on the decks you want to play.

If you are gonna spend any real money on the game the best way to do it is buying the adventures. A full adventure gets you 159 dust/€ while buying 60 packs gets get you 95 dust/€, even buying 1 wing at the time(116dust/€) is better than buying packs.

There's a huge difference between playing ladder early in the month compared to the last 2 weeks. It'll be frustrating as a new player until you have a genuinely competitive deck to play.

I'm starting to play super casually and won't be spending any real money at the start. So far I'm just playing solo adventures against the computer to level all the classes up to rank 10, and then I suppose I'll pick one that I like the most. Then what? Play ranked? Acquire gold somehow to do the expansion solo stuff?

Will watch those Trump videos.

Overall Naxx > BRM

First wing BRM > Naxx.

You get haunted creeper / nerubian egg in first wing of naxx, but you get Emperor Thaurassian and grim patron for first wing of BRM.

Second wing of Naxx is way better though (loatheb and belcher) which is better than just imp-gang boss.

Edit: Now that I look at it, I would do this (as a new player):

1. First wing Naxx
2. Second wing Naxx
3. First wing BRM
4-7. Third, 4th, 5th wing of naxx
8th+: Rest of BRM

Is it really recommended to pay the 700g for each additional wing? I have 1040g right now and don't know what to do with it. It would be cool to finish the Adventures and get those cards that everyone is using, but 6,300g seems pretty steep to try and finish all of the Adventures.

Either pay money or grind out the gold. You need Naxx to be competitive as there are a ton of good cards in it. BRM is good too but Naxx is an absolute necessity, I'd say.

If you want my advice, I would pay money for all of naxx and pay the 700g for the first wing of BRM.

I'm rank 25 because I didn't play any games for 2 seasons.
From what I've seen in the 4 games I've played this season.

Don't play priest and holy smite me on turn 1. And then, don't play goldshire footman, and coin out holy smite on turn 2. And don't have the spell that does 5 damage to enemy hero, ever.

Explosive trap and jungle panther can probably go away, and tundra rhino likely sucks I've only started using that today. It's all beast heavy.

What hunter cards do you have available to you? It's been so long since I've made a hunter deck without eaglehorn bow, for example, that I don't even know where to begin.

here's a cheap but effective hunter deck you could work towards:

If you have the dust, I recommend crafting important cards like eaglehorn bow.

Thanks. Don't have any dust unfortunately.

Maybe I should just play rogue. That's the class I'm most successful at by quite a large margin.
