The every 3 month tourney tradition must be upheld. The fact that the new expac is coming out is just an extra bonus. The point of the tourney is to have fun. New cards are fun, watching new interactions is fun, adding tons of variance to the process is fun. Do you really want to get stomped by dkgo, rempel and bobbo every time? Variance is the spice of life. This levels the playing field considerably. Also the fact that the release date is unknown adds excitement to the process.

Someone also asked about not potentially not using the new expac cards? Embrace reality. The cards (will) exist. The 2+2 tourney is our destiny and we are the harbingers of Hearthstone.
