It has been 3 months since Bobbo ran the last 2+2 tourney. It was a massive success, until dkgo won. (Just kidding, it twas a well won victory dkgo. Also the topdeck mirror loss to you zoo vs zoo in the elimination game in the semis is an undying memory).

Sign ups will close 8/7/15 at midnight EST. One thing that will be more strict is the deadline to have games completed. If matches aren't completed in a timely manner, I reserve the right to arbitrarily gift a win to the person that I perceive to be more active on the HS subforum.

The new expansion will indubitably bring variance to the final rounds when it launches. This is a positive factor. If you make it past the group stages, expect to bring the heat, bring the pain, and not bring the excuses. You may have to (shudder) spend $20 to create enough dust to be competitive. Assuming YOU. ARE. NOT. PREPARED! in the first place with tons of dust.

Please post herein this thread prior to 8/8 00:01 am EST (USA #1!) to display your interest. My rough draft is to expect signups 8/1 - 8/8. Group rounds for a week, then the round of 16 and quarters to happen in a week, then the semis and finals to happen in a week.

The biggest weakness I saw in the tourney three months ago was that the group stages took much too long. Consider this advance notice to have your **** together and be ready to play if you sign up. Once the signups are done I will randomize the groups the same day, so be ready to play on 8/8.

US Server. Format is best of 5 conquest for group stages (same as last time).

Round of 16 and quarterfinals are best of 7 conquest. Semi's and Supreme Final Match of Immortals are best of 9 conquest.

You do not need to submit decklists, but you need to inform your opponent and any casters what classes you will be playing prior to any match.

You are limited to one deck per class. For example, you cannot use a zoolock and a handlock in the same series.

Every three months is a good cycle imo. Also, variance is the spice of life. Surely the plebians want a better chance against the elite? It will also be a good time to show off new cards via casting matches.

When a player wins a game, the deck used by the winning player cannot be used for the remainder of the match.
The losing player can keep the same deck used or switch to a different one of their choice.
Players will be told what classes their opponent has available, but they won’t know which class is picked until both players have picked.

No I mean why wouldn't you wait a few weeks until the expansion came out so we could have new decks right from the get-go?

How large will the initial groups be? Last time it was only 3 and I only got to play one match which kinda sucked. Liked the larger groups from the first tourney a lot since everyone got to play a couple matches at least.

I would definitely like to see bigger groups. Last time I also played only 1 first round match.

The initial group size is variable. The output is 16 victors. It will potentially be groups of 2,3 or 4, depending on interest.

Sign up and play your best. Everyone will have an equal chance to shot to defy variance and be a prince of the universe.

Every deck must be a different class correct? You can't have multiple deck from the same classes. You may want to spell out all the rules in detail as many people don't know them.

A rules committee of no less than 5 members should be established for drafting of the rules.

The rules should be posted no later than 1 week before the tournament, with printed and signed copies being required from all participants. Those signed copies should be scanned and made available for review on a publicly accessible website and FTP server.

A separate arbitration committee of no less than 5 members, no members of which overlap with aforementioned rules committee, should be established for resolution of disputes.
