Wow I was just thinking about this a couple days ago after another 8 hour (deep) cash game session. I found myself very happy with my play (something very unusual) and ended up a decent winner (despite a cooler and a big bluff where my opponent turned a set and kept checking) but there were a couple decisions that I made which were plain wrong, contradicting my original plan. Stuff like that really annoys me and I can't stop thinking about some hands. Honestly, it mostly takes 2-3 days for me to wind down completely. The night afterward is obv. the hardest but on the days to come I still have it on my mind, even if it was a winning session.

With shorter sessions (or some during the day) it's not so much the case, but nightly poker games really wear on me.

A good mod is a straight man.

I mean...come on! That was a slow, high one right over the plate, son.

I am the Don Knotts to your Andy Griffith.

And I'm very intrigued by your edit comment.

Yeah, it's definitely hard to wind down. For the last regular game I played in, I was the host. I was never really good at winding down after, and our games very rarely ended before 1-2 am on a week night.

Couple of thoughts, basically what's been said already:
- I'd clean up -- sucks to have to do it later, or have the wife nag you about it the next day.
- Step outside for a few minutes. I always took both our dogs out for a bit. Chances are the air in your room still smells like fat dudes, beer and cheesies. You'll appreciate the fresh air.
- Play some video games or read something non-poker related. In general I'm trying not to think about the game (win or lose), as I'm just going to be thinking about it all night if I start.
- If it's not going to wind you up, watch TV. Something low key like the news, sports desk, etc.

Ever since someone on 2+2 linked me to this software I've been using it. I already run my monitors on very low brightness settings but always felt they were too bright; you have to tweak the settings on this app but after that you'll be addicted to it. I run 4200K at night and 5600K during the day and my eyes love it.

It's bad enough to make this mistake after razzing eneely, but then to get called out on it by you of all 2p2ers...
