Thanks! I rent a room in a shared house, and sort of took over the garage space (beautiful exposed wood rafters, too), but the owners are converting it over to another kind of space. Oh well, we had a good run.

How do you manage the expenses by the way?
Out of pocket, mostly. For the past year I've put out a tip jar and people have generously donated. I have a kegerator, so they kicked in per beer poured. For tournaments, when people didn't have as many cash chips on hand, most people kicked in $10, which I used for the food, booze, and cards. I paid for all the furniture and equipment myself, thankfully compensated from all my wins in the games.

That's very generous of you, I should remind myself of this whenever I'm cleaning and packing after a long night, hehe. What stakes are usually played there?

pfap - what a great video! What was the real-time duration of the video (how many hours)?

One shot every 15 seconds, played back at 24fps, so 12 hours in 2 minutes.

This thread motivates me to put the time, money and effort to make an amazing poker room. But I'm too broke and lazy.

I never thought I'd be impressed by interior decorating. Now I know why women love those TV shows about fixing up some place so much.

Hey Oscar, I was there around sept/oct '08, I guess it must have been shortly after you opened. I think I talked to you too, if you were the only american in there.
Hope more of the locals are into cash-games now.

To the others, the place is great and from what I could tell the busiest pokerroom. They did have armed guards but there were armed guards all over the town (even bus stops). There's no danger in Bogata though, and there's very little crime from my experience. I wouldn't go camping the woods if you're american though.

Also, I'm setting up some cameras for my table but I'm waiting for some parts so it will take a few weeks. Expect some LSP teasers (Low Stakes Poker) from the Norwegian Nugget when I'm done.

pfap, awesome video. I like the lolcat sitting on the chair towards the end.

I've been thinking about chairs. Most people are using the padded folding chairs or the padded stackable chairs, according to pics. Standard? Comfy enough for 5+ hour sessions?

Since I'm looking at as many as 33 seats (including dealers), cost is an issue.

I've got both the same $9.99 Ikea chairs that pfap has, as well as some exciting $14.99 Ikea chairs. The $9.99 chairs get swapped out for the better Ikea chairs, and, eventually for the "good" chairs as the night goes on.

I don't like long sessions in them, but might not mind if I were smaller. YMMV. If you've got an Ikea next to you (and, if you don't, this discussion is fairly pointless), go sit in some -- they've got about 50 models of chairs.

Thanks. I forgot all about Ikea. Now I won't be so grumpy when the wife asks me to go there.

I'll add mine even though it doesn't compare to most of your's.

My basic dining room setup. Standard homemade table and Nevada Jacks chips:

My table hanging in the basement where it spends 99% of its time:

On game days we bring up the table and push my dining table to the side:

Nice! Time to recruit more players and get more tables set up, in all of that space.
