1. Dealer reshuffles the 4 board cards with the stub and then reveals the flop without burning. Proceed from there.

2. Dealers burns and deals the river face down, reshuffles the exposed turn with the stub, and then deals another turn without another burn once action completes.

Exposed card becomes the burn card, usually.

4 card flop, the current procedure is to turn over the four, mixed them up and choose one card at random to be the burn. Burn should be shown to everyone and then the flop placed as normal.

This is not standard procedure these days. It can cause more problems (think cards flying during the deal and being exposed, cards being exposed from the riffles, etc.) and you have 4 cards you know for sure in the deck which could greatly influence play.

The group I deal for, what I quoted is the procedure we use. It's bright in mind since I did this a couple of weeks ago (first time ever in 6+ years of dealing).

But yes, the method you described limits the possibility of issues and doesn't slow down the game as much. I may mention this to our TD the next time I deal.

The 4th card was gonna be the 2nd burn card anyways, so why not just keep it that way

Didn't notice the second question.

Premature turn.
1. Pull the "turn" and set aside.
2. Finish betting round.
3. If turn is needed, burn and deal the nature river as the turn card.
4. If a river is needed, shuffle the exposed card into the stub and deal the "new" river without burning.

Never!! deal the river face down then shuffle and deal the turn. If the river is marked, everyone can see it and know what the river is. Also, what happens if someone mucks their cards into the facedown river.

Premature river
1, 2, and 4 from above. (Except 1 is pull the river)

1. If you are absolutely certain which is 4th card that would have been the burn, then declare it the burn. Place it face up on top of the stub and burn it when the flop betting is complete. If not certain, mix the 4 cards face down, pick one to be the burn and place it face up on top of the stub, reveal the flop cards.

2. Premature exposed cards don't automatically play. Make sure players who haven't acted know the care won't necessarily play, finish the action. If it's the turn card, set that card aside, then burn and deal what would have been the river card. If you then need a river, shuffle the premature turn in and deal it without a burn. If the premature exposed card was the river, after action is complete, it gets shuffled in and dealt without a burn.

Virtually all my poker for 35+ years has been social home poker.

In situations like this:

1. Fourth card is now the burn card. In the event that you can't figure out which one it is (which rarely happens as virtually everyone turns one card at a time), then replace the cards and shuffle the deck. Or, if there is little action preflop, return the money and redeal from scratch.

2. This scenario happens at least a couple times a night. If the remaining player was going to fold, then we keep the card. If its clear that he was going to call (like he was counting his calling chips) and confirms, then let the card stay. You have to know the players and trust them...easy to do in a social game where people are friends outside of game.

However, someone is never happy, which is why I recommend reshuffling the card 100% of the time. At least it's consistent. Rules exist to avoid conflict, not create it.
