When I first started playing live poker, my friend introduced me to a backdoor game. Deal, special chips, food, drinks ext... After a couple months of playing here the place got robbed. I was there, and had 1500 in my wallet ( robbers didn't take my ***** wallet LMFAO ) however I had $650 on the table. The cops came and after that his game died to another guys game because the guys game which he ran for 20yrs was no long trusted. He "forgot" to lock the door and thus allowing two guys with guns to rob the place.

Hes now trying to start up his game again, and hes been around the poker scene a little bit, he didn't just fall off the face of the earth. He paid me back 200 about a month after it happened after I asked him for it. He tech still owes me 450 from what I lost on the table. I wrote him a message saying I don't mind playing at his game, but... can I expect my money back. Its been a year.

If this happened to you guys would you expect your money? or whats your guys thoughts on it.

[x] Find another game.

[ ] Limit your cash on hand when attending.

[ ] Move somewhere near a poker room.

[ ] Chips play, cash doesn't (If you had $650 on the table in chips, how did you lose money?) ... of course if you had no cash on the table, they WOULD have taken your wallet, never mind

You would be surprised how many of these things are inside jobs. Safety ha to be number one. Consider this guy bad luck, at best, and avoid his games.

Yes very often by the host or at least a former/ current player. I would avoid this game totally.

It's also very possible the host isn't at fault, and if so consider where he's coming from. Guy had his game robbed. From my experience with guys who run underground games, it seems lucrative from the outside, because we assume the money is invested in a bank account, when in fact these guys are very prone to gambling or other addictions. I know it's a generalization, but all I am trying to say is that the robbery very likely could have been a big hit to him financially, especially with losing that night and his revenue stream. Personally, I am surprised you got the $200. Unless you really harass him while maintaining your status as a regular, I doubt you'll see the rest of the money. Even with doing that, expect it in piecemeal fashion taking forever.

Home game, with friends, I'm not expecting to get robbed, and not expecting anyone to make good unless it's clear they made a mistake. We don't have that much on the table/chip box anyway.

Raked underground game? I have an expectation of security, and expect that I'll be made whole.

Going back to a place that's already been robbed. You know what they say about fool me once, fool me twice. I'm not going back to a place where I could lose my money (to robbers) or worse. What if someone fought back? That could end poorly.

It's an underground game that got robbed. Write the $650 off and move onto another game, perferable one that is above board.
