What can I do to keep getting invited when I'm crushing the game? What can I do to keep getting invited when I'm crushing the game?

I got a pretty awesome home game going in my town.
Low stakes €1/1, perfect for me to build my bankroll.
Completely terrible players, I don't think any of them have ever studied any poker at all.

Now I'm there to win and build my bankroll, which is too small to play bigger casino games atm.

I'm very disciplined, I fold a ton and play very tight, strong ranges.
In a live game this easily translates to being a huge nit, since often you're not playing a hand for over an hour.
People notice this.

So far no one has complained, I get comments on it when I do play a hand, like "Oh you're still here?"
But no one seems to really mind, I even get people chasing me because they want to out-draw me.

My image is extremely nitty and mostly people think I'm incapable of bluffing. (Which makes bluffing them very easy when the right situation comes along, but that really doesn't happen much in these games.)

I've been to this game 6 times now and I'm completely destroying it, winning €23/hour at a €1/1 game where we probably play like 15-25 hands an hour.
The rake is insane as well, 10% capped at 10. If you pay attention you can just see the money disappear from the table.

I'm probably running good, since I don't think I'm anywhere near good enough to win at €20/hour, especially in a 1/1 game.

So far no one has noticed or complained.
But I can tell some of the other players don't really like me.

We sometimes have a friendly chat and some of the other players don't mind me, but from others I get this feeling that they'd rather not have me there.

The hosts do like me though, so I'm probably fine for now.

But I think I might have a problem when people start noticing how often and how much I'm winning in their games.

I'm quiet mostly, I do talk to people but not much.
Can't really relate to any of them about poker strategy, since they know nothing about poker strategy.
Most players seem to like soccer, which I don't know anything about.

What can I do to get these people to like me more?
Preferably without ruining my win rate.

Loosen up. If you're crushing this game, it's not gonna hurt you to throw out a big bluff now and again, or take some flops in position with weaker hands. Many home game players are in it for fun, whereas you are there to print money. Mix your game up, try new lines, gambool with them a bit more. And tip the host.

I try to loosen up now and then when possible.
It feels really uncomfortable though, calling a 10bb open with "weak" hands, I'm just burning money at that point.

I do try to limp in a bit with some of my suited trash whenever possible.

Talk and joke. You can get away with being a perceived nit as long as you are good company.

Tip the host every time you cash out.

Study up a bit on soccer so you can at least follow the conversation in between hands.

I was hoping for some more creative suggestions

While the replies so far are good, there's nothing I haven't thought of yet.

seduce the owner's daughter and knock her up

Sorry, man. There's no magic spell or secret handshake. You just have to be seen as a good dude.

Honestly, as a long time host...the best way to be both a winning player and a regular is to really meld yourself into the group. Become friends with the other regs, contribute to the atmosphere and conversations.

The second best way is to be available for every game and tip very well.

The third best way is to give the host a handy under the table every week. But that gets messy.

I do have some buddies at the tables, could put in some extra effort there.

When I win I like to tip big at the end of the night, while cashing out.
I don't like tipping while playing, since my focus is solely on building a bankroll atm.

I'd like to believe I'm pretty good at handies.

In the long run it will be in your interest to give up 1-2 bb / hr if you wind up not getting invited back to the game because you are a non-tipping unfriendly nit.

Sorry hard to understand the difference between tipping at the end of the night vs while playing. Do other players tip the dealers? If yes then you should too.

Do other players drink during the game? If yes you should too.

Do other players straddle? Bomb pots? Blind raise? If yes you should too.

If it’s a home game, show up with a nice bottle of booze for the table. Donuts, sandwiches, whatever.

Bottom line is to spend a little money to protect your access to a lot of money, and to have a personality that is at least in step with the rest of the table.

Since it's a raked game, I would play exactly how you want to. It's not really a home game, per say, it's an underground game. The host will not care how many hands you play, so the only way you can get kicked out would be to upset the host...or be such a nit that players complain to the host. Otherwise, you are probably good.

Drinking at the game just because others are drinking is awful advise. About on par with somebody telling you to blind raise....lolz. Drink if you want to, not because all the other guys are doing it too.

Frankly, I wouldnt change my personality or playing style to keep my invite to a raked underground $1/1 game. There are better games to be had, certainly. I mean, it's still just $23/hour after all....you could certainly make more than this in another line of work to save up for your bankroll, no?

Also, find another game in the mean time. That way if you lose your invite to this game, or it goes busto you have another.

Like someone else mentioned, study up on Soccer so you can follow in on the conversation. Ask questions/advise on soccer, make the other players feel good about giving you advice.

Being friendly goes a long way. Having the host on your side is THE top priority, and dug hit it with being available for every game.

It's raked. Host is making money. Tips keep him happier.

If you think other players are complaining to the host, you'll have to work on being more social. Having one or two of the players on your side could be the difference in the hosts reaction.

Assuming you are already displaying good etiquette, playing in a timely manner, not needling, angling, slowrolling etc. Be good for the game.

A bottle for the players to share builds goodwill, as long as it's brought/gifted the right way.

I don't know if there is much more you can do, but definitely something to NOT do is get into an argument about something totally avoidable. I remember a player that no one really cared for - but was still welcome at the game - cause some sort of argument with the host and was subsequently blacklisted from at least three games.

The dealer made some sort of mistake and the player needlessly flipped out. If they just took it in stride, people would've still hated them, but they would still be playing. Irony is that they were actually at best a break even player.

You guys mentioned tipping. I am curious - how much should one tip?

Like a lot of other stuff... it depends.

I used to play in unraked home games with mostly the same bunch of guys. There were never "tips" given.
I generally showed up with a cigar for the host.
Some occasionally brought a bottle for the host.
We have gotten together for a restaurant gift card for the host to take his wife out.

That being said, when in Rome... if the majority of the winners are giving a portion of their winnings back to the host at the end, ask them (and be prepared to adjust for a poker player answer).
Kinda like what some players say they would do if they won a Jackpot vs what they actually do with cash in hand

I think there is a chance that the winners that don't are relegated down a tier on the call list. But again that depends on the game.

If I had to put a number out there... I'd say 10% of my post-game winnings would be a starting point. Also worth taking into account the rake and the benefits to playing (food, drink, security, etc.).

This part kind of seems backwards if you want them to not notice you winning. Small tips throughout the night are forgotten, big one tip at the end stands out more. Guess it depends on what the others do.

For the soccer idea, I'd plan to study it only a small amount, so you're just knowledgeable enough to ask questions about it. Gives them a chance to do most of the talking, and your side of the conversation will be genuine. You just repeating stuff you heard/read and then someone asking you a question on it probably won't go over well.
