Hosting a home game and went to the dollar store to get some cards. All they had were those Casino Cards (used) that are marked with ink on the sides. For a 20$ Tourney amongst friends, I figure it should be okay but I'm wondering what anyone else thought:

1) Is this something you would complain about at a game
2) Is it something you would do...

Yes, I'd complain. Most of those used blackjack cards are identifiable from the back based on where the black mark was. You'd need to buy and gut a dozen of those decks to build one good one.

Hit a Walmart or something, get some decent paper cards, then go to one of the online stores and order some Copags or Dal Negros.

Those cancelled cards are crap. It is so easy to see a mark made from the bleed of the ink. Even if it is some weird card that gets marked like the 5d, it gives advantage to those who watch the card backs carefully.

Use anything but those. Even worn out old paper cards you found in your grandma's attic would be better.

If the cards aren't good enough for the casino dealers to keep dealing them, they sure as heck aren't good enough for my home game. Marks, bends, rips, whatever there is in the deck is no good for my game.

You can find a deck of Copags or Kems online for about $10 that'll last you for a year or longer if you treat them responsibly, don't cheap out!

Plastic cards are worth it. Get a nice setup of Copags. If your friends are used to the crappy used casino cards, they'll be pleasantly surprised by the quality of plastic. That and they will last much much longer than any paper decks you buy. They will pay for themselves in no time if you run your game regularly.

Bought two packs of those once, started using them...

About 45 minutes in flop comes Qd Qd 7s, WTF.

They had two Qd's in deck and it was missing one of the Jacks.

I haven't used them since, but some have a hole through the deck and some are just rounded on the corners. I think they are okay as long as they are not magic markered.

I would use them again(checking all cards soots of course). They are better than bicycle or bees.

Plastic would be best way to go, but if you are worried about cost and need like 4+ decks for multiple tables, I don't think the used casinos are that bad. Plus you can just throw them away if they get bent in any way.

If you mean a single deck, you're about right.

You can get new Copag setups (2 decks) for $15
