Anyone have a hand chart for guts based on how many players you're playing with? I've tried finding ones online with no luck.

I don't know of one. I think it would matter way to much what your pot matching rules are (Is there a max? If so, does that reduce your pay-in, or does the extra get set aside for the next round?) and whether you have a dummy hand you have to beat. There are a lot of other rule variants as well (forced in rules, for example) that would make things just too complicated.

Back when this used to be included in our dealer's choice game, I would only play pairs above 8 at a seven handed table, and would increase that as the pot built. But, we also had a rule capping your donation, so if the pot became significantly larger than the "match" risk, my holding requirements would go way down.

I hate this game, and I don't consider it poker at all. It's more akin to acey-duecy, just a gambling game with cards, not poker.

The rules were: 6,9 always wins. If you keep 2,3 and everyone else drops, everyone pays you the amount in the pot. 7 handed. No cap. If you lose you match the pot. You have to beat a random hand if you keep and don't have 69 or 23.

I wasn't sure how strong to keep, I dropped AQ one hand and felt like a nit. You're really dropping 77? Is it because of the random hand you have to beat? Maybe I wasn't a nit?

In the future I was thinking of AQ+ 22+ for 7 handed, is that too loose?

It depends on whether the pot-match gets capped. I just played that game like a total nit, because the risk is so high. And yeah, we had the random dummy hand as well, though everyone had to beat it to collect the pot.

I used to play all pairs, but stopped after a couple of huge pot matches. Then when they capped the amount you had to pay in, when it was 2x+ the amount I was riskning, I would play all pairs and AQ+, but not for a 1:1 pot.

we used to play a version of it, 3 cards each. Drop a chip to declare. You had to beat the other players hands and then beat the dummy hand. We had a $20 cap, man the game would get wild if their was $100 in it and only cost $20 to go.

Too many variations.

We played 2 versions, neither was 2 card guts.

Guts - Everyone got 3 card and at the same time dropped or held. When only one holds, they have to beat the widow (dummy hand). I'm playing 'made' hands like trips (best), straights (2nd best) and flushes (lower than straights).

Maverick - Everyone gets 2 cards to start and in order gets an option to fold or take a 3rd card and play. If only 1 player takes a card in the round, all players prior to that player get a 2nd option to take a card. If still only 1 player takes a card, they have to beat the widow (dummy hand). I played it almost like home game hold'em, pairs and high suited connectors early. Lowering requirements if 1st to play in late position. Raising requirements as more people enter the pot.

In general, it's very expensive to be the sheriff and I did my best to avoid it.

For a 2 card game of guts I'd have to defer to people who have regularly played it.
