$0.85/Chip will be enough to buy a wide selection of chips. However, postage and customs will be brutal. So bad that a number of sources just will not sell to foreign markets.
Many, many more options denominated in dollars than in GBP. I haven't a clue what sorts of chips are available to you locally. Maybe it isn't as bad as it seems.
One option is to buy chips you like and relabel them. Not all labels are the same. Don't cheap out here. I recommend Gear-Labels - I have used them before and have nothing but good things to say.

The place to look for chips is on a chip collecting web site - not any type of collectors, but set collectors. I post a link to the classified section. All the chips you could want. Some ( very few though ) are already in country saving postage and customs. Take a look.

PS 300 chips will only spark your interest. You'll see - some of those folks on PCF are crazy mad about more and more and MORE chis. You'll see.
