Looking to build a oval table, finally. Was going 44 inches wide. I was planning to go 84 inches for the length. Any of you guys have a oval that size? Just curious how many players you get seated?

I worked out the math, I guess you get the same amount of room for 10 players on a 44 by 84inch table as you would with 10 players plus a dealer on a 48 by 96 table. 22 1/2 inches per person.

84x44 should seat 9 fairly comfortably at 24.25" per person.

I'm finishing a small oval table this week. 72x42. We usually play up to 8 handed (24" per person) with the occasional 9 handed game.

Ovals are nice. I’ve had a couple. Footprint is sort of large though. Also, players on the b ends can be out of the over head light a bit, and they are a challenge for inexperienced dealers.

I built 2 octagons and might consider a round table if I can figure out the rail.

Good luck.

It isn’t that you did the math wrong. It is that for an “oval” there is no general equation to use since oval is not a specifically defined geometric shape. Ovals may even have only a single access of reflective symmetry. So “the” math doesn’t exist

The moat looks awful. Why not go bigger rails, longer felt (all the way to the rail), and side tables?

I ended up with a table size 90 by 44 with a 4 1/2 inch rail. I order custom felt with a betting line 8 inches out from the rail
