Also, we like playing PLO/8 and the minimum play chip games offered in ring format are 250k/500k blinds, which require purchase of a ton of free chips.

Neither of those are an issue at Faded Spade.

Browser based, no desktop application to use. People are playing on tablets and different browser and OS combinations.

We are paying for the reserved table.

Stars is wonderful, and we are still using it for tournaments. But play money games is not their bread and butter. Totally willing to pay for a service that fits our needs better and wants to keep us engaged and satisfied.
We have also been using Faded Spade, and have been pretty happy with it. Don't have to worry about the rake, you can set the max/min buyin and blinds to whatever you like independent of each other, has a straddle button, stats and downloadable hand history and allows you your own logo for table. Overall it does what we need it to do, and is worth the $20-$25 /month that the host pays (players are happy to chip in a buck or two to help cover it ). They offer mixed games now, including 5 card PLO/PLO8 which is also nice.

We've been using Stars' play money tournaments. We set up a season of 10 games, playing every 2 weeks. 3-4 days after the first tourney finished, there was no update on my club. The day before the 2nd tournament, they updated with the result. We've now played 6 tourneys (i.e. for over 12 weeks) and there's still only one tournament visible in results/standings. Just before our 4th tournament I asked them to update again, 5 days later they responded that they have high volume of support request but that I would hear from them soon. That was a month ago.

Also, you can only choose fast cash games. We play private $.25/.50 games and the rake is not great. Same as regular stars cash games though, which I find too expensive.

We do get hand history, but even when players show they don't always appear. Some times it help replaying the hand, then you can see the cards they show. Sometimes you see the cards starting to turn, but since it's so fast, the next hand starts before the animation can show them. Finally, for cash games, several people try to raise pf but are folded before they can hit the button. All in all we won't use Stars after this season is done.

We have been using the Faded Spade now for 3 weeks. It's working great with 30 seconds to act on each hand vs. the 10-15 seconds of the PokerStars play money game.

Has anyone been using a HUD on Faded Spade? I'm also interested in buying a software program with a handplayer/analyzer. Any recs that I might be able to use with Faded Spade?

Thanks,
MD

None that I know of.

I have written a converter that takes hand history from Faded Spade (which is powered by Poker Mavens) and converts to the OHH format specified by PokerTracker.

But I do not use PokerTracker myself so I have not tested this.

I have inquired with the PokerTracker support team about testing it but they seem lukewarm on it.

I'll write back to them today.

We were playing on Faded Spades for several months, but felt restricted by either having to play 1 game/stakes/mix for the month or paying for multiple tables each month.

We found the software that Faded Spades was being run on , Poker Mavens. The Pro version is a one time $150 charge, and we can create as many tables and stakes as we like. They have a trial version ( which we tried before buying ), that lets you play like 500 hands. We started out just running on one of my home computers and people just logging in using IP address, but I ended up buying a domain name and hosting on a virtual private server ( Atlantic.net had free hosting for a year deal ) and even setup SSL (free using cloudflare ). Have been very happy with it, and software paid for itself in a couple of months over what we were paying at FadedSpades ( we had 3 tables ).

That’s a great tip. We have been happy with faded spade, but it’s worth exploring

We ended up moving everything to PokerMavens (https://www.briggsoft.com/pmavens.htm) where I host the software on a Windows PC and they connect from their browser. You can set up everything with your own tournaments, it supports a multitude of cash games (even mixed games), you can choose if you want to rake or not and it runs in your browser.

Everyone is super-happy about the move from Stars to this.

I downloaded the trial software but can’t figure out what to do with it... how to actually get to a table to see what it’s like. Can you walk me through it? I’m considering using this for internet home games.
Thanks, Jim

I assume you installed it on a Windows PC and got the interface up? Once you added a cash table, you need to go to system tab and click start. That starts the server. Then you need to start the table, unless you set the the table auto-online.

That's pretty much it. Open a browser and connect to http://127.0.0.1:8087 and you should connect to the poker software.

The next step is a bit harder, you need to your local IP address and set up your router with port forwarding for port 8087-8088 to that IP address. Then other players can connect your global internet IP.

I think this is where I'm stuck.
When I go to the trial server page and click on my cash game it says the site can't be reached and mentions setting up a proxy server or something.
Thanks, Jim

You don't need to create a new account to shill your product. The new owners have rescinded the "no self-promotion without being an advertiser" rule.

That said, please don't sock-puppet. It's rude.

I got an email that faded spade is shutting down the virtual card room as of 12/31 - too bad as it was a good run.

I'm going to try Poker Now with some friends I usually play home games with live because Omicron is just spreading too easily and I prefer not to have a bunch of people in my house in small ventilated space. I tried a practice game with my wife. It seemed like exactly what we need:

- Allows me to configure the blinds
- Allows me to assign chips
- Has option to do live chat and video of the player
- Has configuration options like time to make a decision

If we are able to play a few times, I'll report back how it goes.

Been using poker now for a couple months. Very good so far. Our feedback to creator is that we want a numeric time countdown instead of the bars!and the ability for players to add chips in their own without the gamemaster having to do it as guys get up occasionally.

Obviously would be supercool to have some HUD stats available. We tried the Chrome HUD add on but it wasn’t reliable when we used it.

Love that we can rabbit hunt or run it two and like the observer mode that allows observers to watch and see everyone’s whole cards.

We have used poker stars and faded spade but pokernow seems better than both.

They only have hold ‘em though, right?

We’ve been really happy with brigsoft (poker mavens) since faded spade went down.

I think PokerChill is exactly what you're looking for, if you're ok with playing on your phone. It has:

- Integrated video chat
- Lets admin control chip stacks
- Lets admin pause game
- Fractional chips
- Really nice UI

*disclaimer: I built it

Check out screenshots and stuff here https://twitter.com/PokerChillApp

You could build yourself a mavens platform, decently customizable as well.

Anyone know of a web-based platform that has 5card PLO?

Only one I know is donkhouse which has just a horrible user interface and is almost unusable on mobile.

Hi all,

Just saw this thread and wanted to announce our new website, VersusPoker.com which is aimed DIRECTLY at bringing the home game experience online and is currently available for you to play for free on your computer’s browser during our “Early Access” period! VersusPoker is a passion project that we began back in the early days of Covid when we couldn’t find a website that met all of our needs to take our regular home game online. We’ve spent two years designing and building VersusPoker from the ground up to cater to those who want to host a home or private game with all the bells, whistles and flexibility we ourselves have always wanted in an online game.

Here are some of our favorite features:

- Integrated Audio and Video - No need to use other video conferencing software. We have built audio and video right into the table so your avatar is right there with your hand.

- Television-like Head-to-Head Video Showdowns - One of our favorite features, if two players go head-to-head in an all-in showdown, the table automatically reconfigures with the two players prominently displayed in the center of the table to highlight the dramatic moments of the flop, turn and river:

You can see our Heads-Up Video Showdown in a recent game we played here: https://youtu.be/KpsuoFUa8Pw

- Persistent Statistics Tracking - These include loads of the traditional statistics (VPIP, PFR, Aggression Factor, etc.) as well as fun ones such as the number of times you got “screwed” on the River and how much money you lost by folding the best hand. Many of these stats are viewable LIVE while at the table. In addition, clicking on a friend’s avatar will let you see how you are doing versus THEM during a live game (perfect for busting their chops by seeing EXACTLY how much of your stack came directly from them)!

- End-of-Game Email Debriefing Reports - All players receive a post-game email showing their statistical performance for the game. The Table Host also receives a specific Post-game accounting report showing each player’s ending balances and winnings making it easy to settle-up.

- Completely Customizable Tables Even During an Active Game - We added the ability to set the exact time you want to wait between dealing the next hand, how much time for a Decision Timer and Time Bank, Blind amounts, etc. Best of all, these can be changed during a game if the current settings are not to your liking.

- No Client to Download - We designed the platform to run on Chrome or Firefox on your PC, Mac or Linux based computer. No need to download anything to bloat your system. Just sign up, create a table, set the parameters, and send the Table Code to your friends so they can instantly join your game.

Give it a try and tell us what you think. Both of us are hardcore gamers so our goal is to create a platform that PLAYERS really love. We really welcome feedback and look forward to making VersusPoker the go-to place for your private poker games.
