Pictures required and where did you find something like that? Not that I could put that up, but just to see what else is out there.

allposters.com

I bought four wall adornments. The one I mentioned above, a house rules poster, a 'All I learned in school' one that has the hand rankings, and then a Rounders movie poster.

And as soon as I have everything squared away, I'll take pictures and post them. Should be this weekend. Everything is in except the Rounders poster and mounting the TV.

Always good to see folks homegame rooms and setups. Never know when you will see another good idea worth stealing , uh make that adding on , to your own place.

Had another "hit your stop loss in under an hour" session this week.

Man those are brutal.

At least I can pride myself in still having the discipline to get up and say goodnight despite the (very) early hour. Haven't tilt-rebought once.

It is worse if you only get to play once a week or less. Or if you are on an occasional casino outing that you have looked forward to a lot. My stop loss discipline gets tested real hard in those times

Only once have I re bought after hitting my stop loss early. I decided to play more aggressively one night, ran into a couple of coolers, and that's all she wrote. Started to leave, then figured it's early, one more buyin. Ended up a modest winner, but I'd never count on that.

Assuming we all play within our comfort zone financially and that anyone who frequents this forum is at the very least a break even player there really is no reason to have a stop-loss. I use one for one reason only - tilt avoidance. I just know that when the losses start to build up I cannot avoid tilt.

The only other time a stop loss is valid for me is when playing above my BR like when venturing to a casino, in which case the "stop loss" would essentially be my gambling budget.

Same here. If I've lost, I've probably not played well, or been damned unlucky. I figure I won't play any better at that point, so it's time to go. The difference the time I mentioned is that I had been purposely playing a different style, so I just changed it up...and got a lot of action when I got a hand.

Agreed.

You need to adjust your stop loss to the table and your own personal style. To play more LAG profitably you must have a deeper stop-loss per session. If you can't handle it emotionally or financially you probably cannot play LAG profitably.

Friday night Glenn Place Rounders home cash game in a few hours. Last 5 sessions +138 bb, then -127 bb , then +193bb , then -2bb and finally last week -180bb. With this small sample as a gauge of my consistency , should I consider going pro? After all I am up $44 for 30 hours of play.

So the 2nd game in the new place was last night. It's a .25/.50 NLHE / 1-3 button blind Omaha game with $50 min/$150 max (or up to the big stack later in the night). We started out 5-handed, got up to 8 handed at our high water mark, and spent most of the night 7 handed. Over the course of the night, I got hit by a villain having quads twice and we had one guy hit a royal flush in an Omaha hand.

I finished out the night +468BB after winning a couple of big Omaha hands. The pic is my early high water mark:

This morning, I ordered a window AC unit to go in my basement. The way the HVAC in the house is designed you get at best a trickle of air in the basement, which just doesn't cut it with 8-9 people down here in the middle of a Georgia summer. So the new AC unit will be in and installed by mid-week so it'll have time to break in before the next game.

All in all, commentary on the night was good, even those who finished down, and people have liked the look and feel of the room. And I'm definitely enjoying just having to walk upstairs to go to bed instead of driving home. There is also some interesting in a limit rotation (looking at 7 games currently) that I'm attempting to foster. Looking at running 2-4 with full kill for it.

Just thought I would stop in with my brag for the week. Hosting an all day poker game tomorrow that includes Omaha 8, NLHE, PLO, and PLO8 which should run 12 hours. Then on Thursday, CT/PCFer Jeff is hosting his Windy City Blowout that will last until Sunday morning sometime which means that I'm looking at a solid 50+ hours of home poker in the next week. That doesn't even include the best news, which is that WCB also is at the exact same time that my in-laws are in town to help set up for my son's 1st birthday party which is on Sunday. So not only do I get to play a lot of poker, I also get out of having to help set everything up! Best week ever.

Had our all day game yesterday. Played an afternoon of Omaha 8 with a twist which was that if the As hit the board the next hand was dealt as 5 Card stampler. We played 2.5 hours without a single As showing up on the board.... Was a fun afternoon that was pretty easy going.

After a portillos dinner (Italian beef ftw) we regrouped with almost all of the same players with one substitution to play an evening of NLHE/PLO/PLO8. I decided for the evening to do something a little different and get the high denomination chips into play that don't see the felt often. I rounded up all buy in by 10x and all stakes were the upped by the same so our $0.50/$1 played as $5/$10. I was concerned a bit about the play and everything being a typical, but the players adjusted and the game played just fine despite playing with $0.50/$2/$10/$50 chips. Players seems to like saying $250 instead of $25, etc.

I wanted to take some more pictures but forgot as we really got into the game so my apologies! Here is what I have:

Starting game stack

All in early in the evening

Ending stack. Sad I couldn't acquire any $500 chips, but still happy with the results. Also pictured next to the stack is my father's day gift from my wife. Etched poker glasses!

I finally got around to buying some Veneratis. I've wanted them for about four years, and with life in the desert approaching I wanted a set that I wouldn't care if they got lost. Ended up getting:

140x $25
160x $100
300x $500
60x $1k
20x $5k
20x $25k

They'll double as a cash set as well.

Vereratis are nice chips. They have an Old West/Victorian vibe, like you'd see them at Miss Kitty's game on Gunsmoke, or on the train in The Wild Wild West.

Okay so you look down at AA in late position, 8-handed. Blinds 1000/2000, UTG raise to 6000 (85000 behind), called by the big stack (close to a super stack if not already a super stack), you raise to 26000 (about 100000 behind). Blinds fold, called by both EP and big stack.

Flop is Q63.

EP goes in in for 65000, Big stack goes all-in, and your play is?

Call. Not fist pump call, but short tank "wtf" type call.

Not sure it was thread worthy but the mods should feel free to make it a thread if they feel it is thread worthy. I'll post the end in a few days or if it gets a few more replies.

I can't see how that's a fold, but I'm a cash game player so take it for what it's worth

well also I am not much of a Tournament player anymore, but unless I am on the money bubble I would shove my stack also. You have good showdown equity against two players and you actually could be way ahead of both. Anything can happen and a lot of it could be very good for you.

I forgot to post right after the game, but a couple weeks ago, I was involved in a pot at the CT/PCF game that exemplifies the madness of pot-limit Big O8.

I start the hand with 1,200 or 1,300 BB, with one guy who covers me (with the awesome "I WANT YOU TO GAMBLE" shirt) and the rest with fairly big stacks. I'm holding A346J in early position. I don't recall the exact action, but there was probably a straddle and/or a single raise.

We go six-handed (maybe seven?) to the flop: 245, giving me the wheel low, nut straight, nut flush draw, and a pair for the hell of it.

I bet 80 BB, and it goes fold, min-raise, call, call, call. My jaw practically drops. Those calls are for a significant portion of a couple of those players' stacks. Why are so many people making this big call on this massively threatening board? I have nut/nut and the only flush draw worth having.

It comes around to me, and I can't see any action to take but a raise. I go pot, for just shy of 900 BB. Flop raiser calls all-in for less. IWYTG calls. Everyone else folds. IWYTG proposes that we freeze the action, with flop raiser's blessing, and we do that. We turn up:

Me: A346J
Flop raiser: A399x
IWYTG: A36xx

The board bricks, so IWYTG and I chop the side pot, chop the high half of the main pot, and take one-third of the low main pot along with flop raiser. Only the main pot is shown in the photo. Both of my opponents proceeded to compare ridiculous internet photos while the pot was split up.

Okay, looks like most would call/go all-in so I feel better. I did call.

EP AQ (basically what I had him on preflop, KQ, AQ, AK or TT or better hoping it wasn't QQ)
Big stack 66 (I put him on AQ after the flop trying to isolate EP)

Turn and rivers are bricks for both me and EP. We were knocked out in 7th and 8th respectively. Big stack is definitely at a super stack now.
