i am a low stakes crusher and has always been playing in casinos. I played my first home game 2 weeks ago, and its a greatttttttttttttt game. it is a newly set-up home game (been running for 3 weeks), the player pool consists of 3 pros(including me), 2 omcs, and a bunch of fish, most of them being business owners (restaurants, pimps...etc). stakes are 1/2, raked at 5% capped at 10 (same as local casinos), but average stack size would be about 3k early in the morning.

1/2 blinds are pretty much disregarded because straddles would go up to 20 easily (people can straddle from any position for any amount, buyin is uncapped). I am worried, very worried, because

1. though its an insanely good game, i am not really properly rolled for 10/20.
2. i fear that this game would not last forever/would run dry at some point
3. i was an unknown at first but now people know that i do this for a living

for a low stakes grinder like me finding it hard to constantly get good tables at the casino, this home game is almost too good to be true. the fishes are losing money too rapidly due to the straddles and the uncapped buy-ins. they drop 5k-10k regularly on an average night. i fear this game would run dry very soon. if i were the host i would not have liked this situation. so my question is: what are some things that i can do consciously to make sure that this game continues to run, does not run dry, or make sure i do not get kicked out, or how can i maximise my edge given my pro image? i need some advice! thanks!

You may be a low stakes crusher, but this is a high stakes game. Sounds like it's just not your thing. It likely won't last too long, so don't take a shot if you can't handle the swings, as you may lose a lot and not be able to get out back because either you'll be busted or the game will die.

OP, just askin' , what do you consider low stakes? 5k to 10k losers at one session seems a tad high to me.

i play 2/5 but my local casino games are really deepstacked. average stack at a 2/5 casino game would be 2k

If you're properly rolled for your current deep 2/5 game, I can't see how BI/BRM is an issue.

If you are truly worried about longevity, speak w the host in private about capping either the BI or the straddle.

If you are worried about image, I think one major difference is that recs frequent home games for fun even moreso than the casino. So your people skills matter even more. If this isn't a strength of your game, work on it!

The way to make sure the game continues, is to make sure the losers don't lose as much and/or as often. At least some of the winners aren't going to like it. Certainly there is a debate if you'd rather make less each game to continue the game, rather than win more, but kill the game.

It isn't a matter of personally winning less. The losers are going to lose, by giving them a break at the table, someone else is just going to get what you've left behind.

Do others share your concern(s)? Does the host? Expressing yourself properly to the right people migtt help change the structure.

Our regular game is now spread limit. When we played no-limit, there were hard feelings and player turnover. Since your game isn't going to move to speed limit, lowering stakes (buy-ins and straddles) might keep it going a bit longer.

However people adjust to your image, will dictate how you adjust to them. As a pro, the playing strategies are more obvious to you than me. Being more social, and I don't know that you aren't already social, should help bring some action and alleviate bad feelings that you are 'only there for the money'.
