Hey guys,
I want to get a top of the line setup for a decent sized home game. I haven't researched chips or tables for 5 years or so.

Needs:
9 person table with dealer station that can function as a player station if we don't have dedicated dealer. I like how racetrack designs look but I don't like the functionality. No need for custom felt, but options would be nice. Don't want to build it, want to have it delivered with minimal setup.
Ability to fold the legs for storage is a must.
Also, want a slot for shuffle master. Are there any table companies that will include a shuffle master flush mounted?

Chips:
Casino quality only. Full set of cash and tourney denominations. Custom logo required since I don't want outside chips. Must have racks and carrier.

Other:
Cards, cut cards, dealer buttons. These are pretty easy as I know that I like copags and the other items are no biggie.

Am I missing anything?

For the table, look for a local table maker. You can get just what you want, and likely pay less that those who sell them mail order. You should be able to find a few on Craigslist, depending on your location. Ask for references. Look at samples.

I am with you on racetracks. But I have seen tables with a narrow racetrack that look pretty cool. Maybe the best of both worlds.

For chips it's ASM all the way then. They offer many different mold, edgespot, and color combinations. They recently started offering 44mm size customs chips too, albeit in one mold only. If you want your set to be more "casino like" you can get custom inlays on your cash chips and get custom hot stamps for your tourney chips. ASM only offers very basic denominations for hot stamping so you'll have to find an outside stamper.

I recently got some tourney chips hot stamped that were just finished. There still on the way to me from Seattle but the photos I've seen of them look great!

Stine is EXTREMELY overpriced for what they sell. I have taken several of them apart to refelt the table and I'm amazed at the amount of money that people pay for them. OP where are you located at? I'm a builder and may be able to help you with what you need. Also I would tend to stay away from ShuffleTech. If you are going to get a real machine like a Deckmate then that's a different story. But there have been so many recent issues with ST that I've stopped recommending them to customers. I'm posting a table soon that I just completed. PM me for info if you need.

Yes, if you live in Slidey1's service area, your choice is made. Hell, if money is no option, have him make your table and get it shipped. This forum has seen a lot of great tables from him.

What are the issues w shuffletec? Are there alternatives?

I'm in Irvine, so about 8 miles away from you. Big Slik does have awesome stuff. I dare say that I'm a lower cost but similar option for you. Shuffle tech has gotten to the point that they are not responding to emails, terrible execution of new product line and service for their existing product. The current model they have isn't really even available any more. Supposedly they were coming out with an upgraded model that was going to be about $1,800 but it has yet to see the light of day.

How does everyone rate KEM and Copags? I used to use Copags but recently got KEM and they seem excellent. I'm looking into these Desjgn and Modiano Platinum Acetate brands, but the former does not have bridge which I prefer.

I already have like two dozen decks so I'm not sure if I should get some just to try out, but I guess I could.

top of the line:

table: local builder, 100%.

chips: You want custom ASMs, see www.pokerchipsonline.com. They'll sell you a very nice hardwood presentation case, laser engraved if you like. For functionality, the acrylic "birdcage" carriers with acrylic racks are better. I suggest cash set in wood box, tournament set in birdcage.

Another option is ceramics, if that's your thing. Casinos use them nowadays, but clay is much more of a cost-is-no-object way to go, imo. Also clays with inlays have a more "classic" look, where ceramics are more "modern". Get samples, because you MUST handle chips to decide what you like for yourself.

Cards: the differences between the best cards are subtle. KEM, Copag, Desjn, Modiano, Fournier and Del Negro all make 100% plastic cards that would be appropriate on the nicest custom setup, so these you can shop for online (www.caragails.com) based on what graphics you like.

^^ All great recommendations. I would add that ceramics are much easier to clean. But you have to like the chips first and foremost.
