Issue with size of pot bet in PLO Issue with size of pot bet in PLO

Playing PLO, preflop there is $35 in the pot. Flop comes out and Player A bets $65. Player B calls, Players C and D fold. Turn is put out and A checks. We now notice that the original bet on the flop was too much.

What now? Is it too late to back up the action? Action stands as is?

If we had noticed it after C and D folded, but before the turn was put out, do you handle it differently?

Action offered and accepted. It is way too late for anything to be done.

Players B, C and D each had a chance to object to the bet size and did not do so. Once they act, the bet size is sealed. The last chance for a correction comes when the last player to act fails to note the error and request proper limits on the over sized bet. Note that a mucked hand stays mucked - say C folds and then D objects to the bet size, it is too late for C to get back in the hand.

If there is a dedicated dealer - a full on KITN is in order. Otherwise the table can share in a group KITN as they are collectively at fault.

In this case I too would just let the action stand. Likely this is a home game with NO dedicated dealer intently keeping track of things. So this kind of thing will occur from time to time. It is best caught early before things get complicated. If your group wants to play pot limit games then folks need to pay attention to pot and bet sizing , especially when they are dealing! Put down the beer and pay attention, or drop the pot limit stuff for No limit games!

As played, play on. Too late to make a correction. I don't think any player made an objection or suggested 'fixing' it, but if they did, it's now too late.

Home games can alter/stretch/rewrite rules, but the group should have some idea when enough action has followed a mistake, and the mistake won't be corrected. In general, I think the casino put the number of actions as 2 players putting money/chips into the pot or 3 players acting (in any way).

So Player A makes the oversized bet, B calls (1 action putting in chips), C folds (2nd player acting) and D folds (3rd player acting). Too late to rewind the action.

If the error is caught before D acts, then it can be rewound (but C does not get cards back).

The group I've played PLO with, plays it for micro-stakes and is very concerned with figuring the "pot" sizes. In the past, I've made it clear that action offered and accepted is fine heads up, but not multi-way. When HU, we don't allow A to make an oversized bet, B to call, and then make a correction.
