I'm more interested in a tourney than cash games, unless it is mixed games. I should be able to make the tourney on Sat, Fri I am going to the Dbacks game, so I am busy then. I'll prolly be drunk by 4pm of the tourney.

Work got a little crazy the past week, but I'm still set to arrive in Phoenix on Thursday. I only hope I'm well-rested enough to not lose my roll in the first day.

Pali- I can bring my tourney set if needed. Although we'd have to hook up somewhere beforehand if you need them for anything before the saturday main event.

1015 piece ceramics with a desert theme.

25 x 240
100 x 280
500 x 160
1k x 220
5k x 100
25k x 15 (plaques)

Those are awesome, considering the southwestern location

I remember that set, from when you first ordered them. They look great. You may have added the plaques since you posted them, though, because they are not familiar to me.

I've got a 1,000 piece set from the club. Yours might be better suited to the tournament based on denominations, however, as ours are geared on a ~3k stack, and I'd like to do 15k or so. I haven't ruled out rushing a cheap set from Spinetti's yet, however.

Guess my window on that option closes REAL fast, however.

Let me hit excel and look at my sets here, and figure out a plan. I don't mind driving out to Fountain Hills if it comes to that. It'll be an excuse to find a new place to eat.

In other minor news, the weather seems "tolerable" for the weekend. It's monsoon season here, but the 10-day forecast is getting pretty dialed in, and it looks like 105 with scattered clouds -- little to no rain -- for the event days.

That will work... any evening s/b fine. I'm also in east Mesa (around power/baseline) Tue-Fri this week from 7a-3p, if that makes it any easier. Still a long hike from your neck of the woods. And if you just need them for the sat tourney I could just bring them with me and come a little early. But if you want to head to the hills and get them that's fine too. Just let me know.

I walked around DC for the last two days with heat in the mid 90 and 60-70% humidity. 105 won't be that bad.

Cool chips. Never seen them before. My vote is play with them. I'll enjoy the 5 minutes uses of shuffling them before shipping them to someone else.

I'm in Gilbert at a friend's card shop at Gilbert/Chandler (the roads, not the cities) most evenings, so I'm sure we can work something out.

I head back to the hills around 3pm each day and this week I don't think I can head back into town any evening. How about lunchtime anywhere in gilbert/mesa/chandler... or I can maybe drop them at your buddy's card shop for you to pick up.. although I'd rather hand them to you in person...

I think I struck a deal to buy a couple thousand used bar poker league chips tonight; I'll keep you posted, and plan a Tuesday day meetup if it falls through tomorrow.

How about baking in a bus with broken AC outside of JFK airport for three hours in hundred degree, record breaking weather?

I can do that too. That might be the easiest for everyone.
Unless I hear otherwise, I will take them with me to work on Tuesday and then drop them off at your place around lunchtime.
Pali- no need for you to go out and spend money on chips... (well, except to the extent that for some of us there's *always* a need to do that)... You're putting out quite a bit for this shin-dig as it is...

I would be honored if the "El Pueblo Poker" desert themed chips were the official 2013 HPI Main Event Chips!

I'm in rainy Kentucky this week, but I'm used to 90+ heat and humidity in Orlando. 105 and dry will feel like springtime.

Unfortunately, this week has been nasty humid, the worst since I moved to Phoenix last October.

+1

Not as bad as I was used to in NC, but it sucks none the less.

So...

I went to purchase ~2,000 used chips from a friend of mine who's in the bar poker business. I ended up buying 2x 1,000 chip sets in birdcages with racks, and then agreed to buy a box containing an unknown large quantity of mostly-the-same chips.

The box ultimately had 4,478 more chips, of which 3367 match the 2000.

I've got >5000 tournament chips, most of which close to the type below, only with his old league's custom labels on about 60% of them - which is good, because they get pretty white in bulk without the labels.

Breakdown is, with the bulk chips and the racked/stacked chips: 2000/1550/600/1000/40 of 25/100/500/1k/5k.

I'm going to get a hard count on the labeled vs unlabeled in a bit, and figure out how massive of a pile of chips I can give everyone for the tournament. Everyone gets a rack! [Maybe not, but a giant pile of chips be yours...] I want the final table looking over mountains of chips.

The other ~1,000 chips in the giant unsorted box were the type below, and are $0.13 at DCG. They're the correct breakdown for smaller tournaments or can be played along-side the other set. [Breakdown was 385/308/127/106/85 of 25/100/500/1k/5k.]

All in all, 6500 chips, two bird cages, 24 racks, and a few buttons for a little over $200. That's $0.03/chip with free bird cages and no shipping.

I'll sit in Excel and figure out stacks once I count the unlabeled chips and decide how important it is to use them or not.

It appears that you are covered in chips ( quite literally) so i won't bother dropping mine off at the snukeman's place.
