I was on the fence about playing on Sat, but I think that picture just secured it for me.

Still trying to figure out starting stacks for the tournament.

I have to assume there won't be a massive landslide of players, and that if I plan for 32 I''ll have the bases well covered -- and can work out some sort of contingency plan for more.

There doesn't seem to be a point to giving out tons of greens, since I'll buy them back after the first couple of hours, so... ...thoughts? Think LOTS of chips Remember, doubling a stack only adds one round to a tournament.

Green - 25 - 2000/1350/62/42Black - 100 - 1550/1200/37/37
Purple - 500 - 600/425/18/13
Yellow - 1000 - 1000/625/31/19
Pink - 5000 - 40/40/1

The numbers are the color, the denomination, the number of total chips, the number of total chips divided by 32 rounded down, and the number of labeled chips rounding down. This does not count for reserving chips for color-ups.

I'll cross-post this general, since those not attending might have some opinions...

If you have the greens, which obviously you do, I say get them in play. Maybe leave them in play for a level or two longer than absolutely necessary.

Can we start making some prop bets already? Nobody has taken me up on my $10 last longer bet. I need to have money moving before I'm even at Midway.

Did not see this...

I'm obviously in for it. Basically free money for you!

If I make it out Saturday, which I'm hoping to, I'll donate $10.

are we having antes in this tourney? If so the greens should be in play for at least 6 levels...
25 50
50 100
75 150
100 200 25
150 300 50
250 500 75 (remove 25's)
400 800 100

add a 25/25 level up front if you want to dampen the progression even more.

as for stacks, if you're thinking 32, and want mountains of chips in play...

eg

25 x 20
100 x 15
500 x 16
1k x 15

gives you 66-chip starting stacks equaling 25000 (VERY deep) which will yield stacks o chips throughout.

Although that doesn't put much of a dent in your set on the low end, it will stress the top end with only 40 5k chips available. That equates to 200k out of a total of 800k chips in play, which means 600 1k chips being pushed around at the end.

Personally I'd prefer max chips in the 30-ish range to start. maybe 15k-ish stacks... while it's nice for the leaders to push around huge mountains midgame-endgame, it can get a bit cumbersome if all players are doing it from the getgo..

whatever you decide, this is gonna be a blast!

Booked. I also think we need to start things off right with a $20 flip as soon as we walk in the door.

I posted some intentionally crazy ideas in the other thread on starting stack sizes. I'm totally fine with way too many chips as long as we understand that it will slow things down a bit, especially late in the game as Zathras pointed out.

I think it'll depend on Pali's home crowd a bit - will they enjoy big piles of chips, or do they want efficiency and more hands per hour? I'll have fun either way, at least until I bust out early and have to pay Breich ten bucks.

Can you bring a deck of cards? I figure bridge size will be good for the plane ride and I don't have any.

Looks like jz, outlaw, snuke, and schmend are good for $10 each.

Bridge sized deck booked. Let's see how bad my flipping goes...

Group booking or individual?

Last year I did about 5 individual bookings and preferred that to a group one even though I paid out on them all either way....Yeah me!

Also is anyone else feeling like this:

I'm all over the place on these threads, but...

Current state of house is:
  • Garage:
    • The craps table is up with $100 worth of nickel/quarter/dollar chips on it.
    • The brown table (my original build) is up, next two the air conditioner and the swamp colloer.
    • I'll cool the garage in advance of Friday, but we should be good in the main room until Thursday.
  • Main Room:
    • RFID table is awaiting a new power strip, but otherwise good to go.
    • Cables and cameras need taped down.
    • The green table is housing all of the chips which need bagged.
  • Patio:
    • The table I bought at auction from a busted poker room in town is there.
    • Fresh mister nozzles have been installed.
  • Other:
    • I'm picking up overflow tables and chars from my poker league tonight, on the off-chance that we need them.
    • General cleaning continues. Trash went out Monday, but it needs to go again
Assorted RSVPs keep coming in from various fronts. I expect Thursday will be a table and a half of lower limit players drinking beer and bull****ting, as planned. Friday should meet the goal of multiple tables of cash players - with enough, most assuredly, for the $1 NL/PLO table and the 3/6 mixed-limit to go off without a hitch. Saturday's tournament will at least be a couple of tables, but I'm preparing chips for 4, with enough chips in other sets for more if the unexpected happens.

Tomorrow will be my first day on the job for ~4 hours early in the day, and then I'll pick up a keg and hotel keys. I'll start my new job in earnest on Monday, should all continue to go well.
