I'm going to do FRBs. If I have to use a medium for his chips, I'll just throw yours in the same box. Otherwise, your two sets should go in a small.

It didn't happen today, but I should be able to box and ship on Friday. If you haven't already done so, please PM me your shipping info.

Paypal is probably the easiest way to pay me. I'll send you guys PMs when I figure out the exact amounts, but it's $6 per set plus $6 for a small FRB (2-3 sets) or $13ish for a medium FRB.

Abby is going to send you the money for both our sets so total it up and send everything to her. I'll just pay her in cash next time I see her.

Fly! Be free!

Most of the chips were shipped today - gnc and abby/jz, yours should arrive by Thursday and I'll PM you with tracking numbers.

Unfortunately, there seem to be no more small FRBs in my part of Orlando. I went to two post offices today and both were out. So eneely, I haven't shipped yours yet, but I'll try again on Monday. You will definitely have the chips well before your December 15th game.

Also, if anyone else is interested, I still have six extra sets. One set of 30 (enough for one table) is $6 plus shipping.

Eneely, here is what I sent to my group. I need to change the chip information now that we have special chips for the event.

The Game: NLHE

Doors Open: 1:00 pm
Limit: 17
Structure: Rebuy Tournament
Buy-In: $5 entry for 5,000 chips + Secret Santa Gift + Item for Dinner if your going to eat with us.

Dinner: Ribs/Chili provide by host

Rebuys: $5 for 5,000 chips, must be busto to rebuy.

Special Challenge: Beat my rebuy record of 20 rebuys, yes you read that correctly, 20 rebuys...that was set last year and I will personally pay for your 21st rebuy.

Add On: One add on for $5 for 15,000 chips will be available during the first break

Special #1: Bag 'o Presents at every table!

Special #2: If we have more than 10 I'm going to host this in the garage. I'll have the space heater running like other times time to keep the garage warm, but just wanted to give you all a heads up.

Special #3: If you have someone you want to bring along for this you may just hit the plus however many button on it.

Special #4: If a red king hits the board on 5th street, there will be a 6th street card + another round of betting. If a red king hits on 6th street there will be a 7th street + another round of betting.

#1 rule for this tournament: HAVE FUN!

At the beginning of the tournament, each table receives one "Bag 'o Presents". If you play a hand down to the river and win with one of your hole cards being a "A of Spades" OR "2 of Hearts" you MUST pull one present (at random) from the Bag 'o Presents. Each bag will contain the following:

Three Black 100 chips

Three Red 1,000 chips

Three Blue 5,000 chip

Three "Special" Red chips

Three "Special" Gray chips

Three "Special" Blue chips

Three "Special" Purple/Green chips

Three "Special" Black chips

Three "Special" Green/Black Chips

Three "Special" Black/Red Chips

Special Chips

Red- "Merry Christmas" - May exchange for one free buy in when busto. If you have this chip at the break exchange for a free add on.

Gray- "Secret Santa" - Your feeling so generous you will be moving ALL-IN blind next hand.

Blue - "Gift Exchange" - Exchange all of your chips, including special ones, with the player on your left.

Purple/Green - "Christmas in Omaha" - At any point, trade in this chip for 2 more hole cards. Use any combination of the board cards and your four cards to make the best hand. If you have this chip after the first break exchange it for a T2500 chips.

Black - "Bah Humbug!" - Keep this chip until you win a pot or bust. While you have this chip you only get dealt one hole card. If you have this chip after the break exchange it for a T100 chip. Bah Humbug to you too!

Green/Black - "Company's Coming" - You must exchange places with another player at any other table and that player takes your spot. Take all of your chips with you.

Black/Red - "I think I saw Santa" - This chip may be played at any time. At random expose one hole card of every opponent left in the hand.

Rules for Bag 'o Presents

1) You do not need to win the hand at showdown to claim a present (but you must show your cards!) Your hand needs to just be in play after the final round of betting, or All in with a caller.

2) If you bust out, but win a present, the present you've drawn is applied after you re-buy. If you choose not to re-buy, you don't pull a present. If it is after the rebuy period and you bust out you are still in the game with the one chip you pull from the bag as a "Last Minute X-Mas Gift"

3) During the first break the red, gray, & blue chips will be removed from the bags and replaced with a T5000 chip.

3) If you pull a present that's already been colored up, the present is discarded. Feel free to shout, "Bah, humbug" if you'd like.

4) If a table collapses and there are presents on it, the presents are randomly distributed to the other bags. Players will redraw for seats at each table collapse.

5) "The Night Before XMas" When there are 10 minutes left in the 4th blind level, the clock is paused and play on all tables is paused once the current hands are done. The puck is moved and, starting with the small blind, each player may optionally draw once from the bag 'o presents. Once everything's resolved, the clock is unpaused and play continues.

Secret Santa Gift

In addition to your $5 buy-in, you are to bring a wrapped Secret Santa gift of undetermined value. This gift can really be anything you want; something cool, a funny joke, or something politically incorrect. When you bust out of the tournament, you get to pick one of the Secret Santa gifts, open it, and display it proudly for all to see

Rules for Bag of Presents
  • There are three ways to win a present at showdown with a red king:
    1. If you table your hand and win, you must take a present.
    2. If you are all-in, your hand must be tabled. Win or lose, you must take a present.
    3. If your opponent tables a better hand, you may choose to table your loser and take a present, but it isn’t required.
  • If you bust out and win a present, the present you've drawn is applied after you rebuy. If you choose not to rebuy, you don't pull a present. If it is after the rebuy period, pull one chip from the bag as a "Last Minute X-Mas Gift."
  • If a table breaks and there are presents on it, the presents are randomly distributed to the other bags.
  • The Night Before Xmas. When there are 10 minutes left in the last blind level before the end of rebuys (400/800), the clock is paused and the current hands are finished. Move the button, then starting with the small blind, each player may optionally draw once from the Bag of Presents. Afterward, restart the clock and continue play.

For those who are using Tapatalk, it doesn't do tables or nested lists well, so my rules are partly incomprehensible. Look at them in a browser and they'll make more sense.

What if someone wins a hand with KK? Do they draw one chip or two?

Another question. How many re-buys should I plan for? I'd like to go to a second table, but I doubt I have enough chips.

I think this one depends on your crowd. I mean I had 20 rebuys myself, but I'm pretty sure on the one table last year we had between 40-50.

Wow, that is a lot less than we had, but frankly I don't remember how many exactly. So you are right, it can vary greatly.

I'm doing 4K buyins and rebuys, and 8K addons. If I estimate one rebuy per player average, and I max it out at 14 players, that's:

14 buyins + 14 rebuys + 10 addons =
56K + 56K + 112K = 224K

If I color up the 25 and 100 chips, I have 225K available. Whew! I guess if I have more rebuys than than, I can leave the 100s out there. That would be 4 more. Tight, though.

My rules imply one chip, though as rarely as this will come up I see no harm in allowing the option to draw two.

We didn't have nearly as many as jz's. I had six total BI's last year and was the rebuy leader in my nitty group. I don't recall exactly, but I'm fairly sure we had fewer than 20 rebuys total across a two table game.

Like jz said, it really depends on your crowd.

Almost forgot:

Last year, I found the presence of "Christmas in Omaha" and "I Think I Saw Santa" to be extremely unbalancing during the later part of the tournament. So this year, I've decided to require all special chips to be cashed in when the rebuy period ends. This gives us two solid hours of insanity, then forces everyone to shift gears into almost-normal tourney mode (though the bags will still have chips worth T100-T5000, so people will still be overplaying red kings).

Here's the table from my revised rules doc:

ChipDuring the rebuy periodIf you have this chip at the end of the rebuy periodValue after the rebuy period
Merry ChristmasIf you go busto, you may exchange this chip for a free rebuy. You may NOT purchase a rebuy and keep this chip.Trade for a free add-on (15,000 chips). You cannot also BUY an add-on.5,000 chips
Secret SantaThe Spirit of Christmas moves you! You are all-in blind on the next hand. 5,000 chips
Gift ExchangeImmediately exchange all of your chips, including special ones, with the player on your left. 5,000 chips
Christmas in OmahaDuring your action or at showdown, you may trade in this chip for two extra hole cards. Use any combination of the board and your four cards to make the best hand.Trade it in for 3,000 chips.3,000 chips
Bah Humbug!Keep this chip until you win a pot or bust. While you have this chip, you are only dealt one hole card.Trade it in for 100 chips. One of the smallest chip in play.
Company’s Coming!Trade places with a player at a different table (same if only one table left). Take your chips with you. 2,000 chips

"Any combination?" They don't have to use two from their hand? I think I had this rule last year, but I am questioning why we don't balance this by using standard Omaha rules.

Maybe because it won't usually help their hand to play it?

I do all 4 cards but it makes it incredibly powerful, although last year two people busted still using them lol.

I'm not changing it because I think it's more fun to be able to use all since as you mentioned picking two only increases the value slightly. Just have to end them at the conclusion of the rebuy period. The only "fun" chip I'll leave as a possibility after will be the "I think I saw Santa chip" and even that I'm 50/50 on. I'll see how it goes this year as last year it didn't have much of an impact.

It's not really Omaha, but I think allowing any combo of hand and board is fine.

This is one reason. Also, it's a one-time thing that guys will often use as a life preserver when they're all in and behind. Might as well give them a few extra outs.

BTW, I'm still steaming about the guy last year who called my flop shove with a two outer (and a red king LDO), whiffed, then used his Omaha chip to pick up one of the remaining kings and a good chunk of my stack. Holiday Game Ideas
