hold em drinking games? hold em drinking games?

I made this one up that's so simple a European could play.

Deal n+1 texas hold em hands where n is the number of players. Starting to the left of the dealer, each player selects a hand. Deal flop, turn, and river. Losing players take a drink. Dealer can either rotate to the left, or winner deals.

Anybody else have some decent hold em or poker in general based drinking games that aren't too complicated for Europeans or people that don't understand the game very well?

Why is it for Europeans only? Nice idea though, quick thought: if anyone wins a pot with high card(either by bluffing or board dryness), all others gotta take a drink.

why not just play holdem but with drinks instead of chips?

start off with a 1 finger ante, blinds at 2/4, you'll prob have an allin every hand

lol

Me and my friends do what chesster suggested, and there pretty much is an all in every hand. Drunken mayhem ensues, everyone has a great time. Prop betting on who throws up first/next is always a good time.

it isn't just for Europeans, but this game is so simple even a European could play it. They're bad at everything...except socialism.

edit- there is no betting, you just pick a hand from the n+1 face up, and run the board. high hand wins...that's the simplicity.

For the same reason people run entire hands when they decide to bet a flat amount through the river pre-deal. Entertainment for the value. Process is often nearly as important as results.

Anyway, I do have a variation of this:

I call it "poker night". Everybody shows up, buys in, plays some cards. We drink all night long.

Tho' in one game I play, when Deadwood was still fresh in memories, there was a rule that everybody had to do a shot of whiskey if anybody said "c*cksucker". Usually with a toast all around and a chorus of "c*cksucker!"

I have one i play all the time, it's very simple- it even has a simple name:
'drinking hold'em'
Usually we play 2-4 handed. Each player has a beer (or you can do it with shots but this gets messy) we have a button which rotates as normal and the blinds are 1 drink 2 drink. If everyone folded to the sb he could either match the bb 2 drinks, fold or raise. if he folds he takes one drink.
if the sb calls and bb checks we go to the flop with a pot of '2 drinks' if the sb bets 3 drinks and bb folds the bb takes his 2 drinks, if the sb bets 3 and the bb goes all in the sb drinks 5. All in is obviously the entire beer. If you have <1/2 beer left you open a new one and take drinks from it but drink the entire one if you're all in.
pretty simple and gets you extremley drunk.

Another one i invented is called 6 card triple chance:
its mostly done 1-1 but you can do it with a few more. we assign an amount of drinks for the looser say 10 drinks of beer.
each player gets 6 cards face up, you deal a flop and each player discards 2, deal the turn and each player discards 1, deal the river and throw one more. whoever has the best hand wins. if it's a split we both drink.

alternatively just run a hand for a beer. Its a good way to get things livened up

As much as I used to like a good old fashioned drinking game (zoom, schwartz, profigliano - anyone?), I'm comfortable just drinking because I like to now

Any drinking/card game purist knows that @sshole is the Cadillac of drinking games.

Accept no substitutions my friend..

I realize that it's not hold 'em based, but I haven't found any hold 'em drinking games that were worthwhile, you might as well high card for drinks or just take turns chugging.

@sshole at least takes a modicum of skill, plenty of laughter is guaranteed to ensue and it's easily modifiable for personal rules (drink/drank/drunk, thumb rule, waterfalls, eye contact, first names, swearing, etc..)

Drunken hilarity is almost guaranteed to ensue.

+1. The beer cans I emptied playing this game in college would make a pile larger than my house.

And for the record, this is the first time I've ever seen the profanity filter break a link.

Some buddies and I made up a drinking poker game at the beach a few years ago. Was one of the first times we got one of our friends drunk .. lol

Basic principle, each player stars with 5 shot glasses with the liquor of their choice in front of them. You bet shots during each betting round. At the end of the hand you have to drink the shots that YOU have out in front of you (not ALL the shots in the "pot"). We'll play a hand.

SB (5 shots)
BB (5 shots)
CO (5 shots)
BTN (5 shots)

PF: CO opens for 1 shot, BTN folds, SB calls, BB calls

So at this point BTN is out and doesn't have to shoot anything. The SB, CO and BB both have 1 shot in placed out in front of them.

Flop: SB checks, BB bets 1 shot, CO calls, SB folds

So at this point, the SB has 1 shot that he has to take (the PF call) and he's out of the hand. The BB and CO have 2 shots in front of them. SB waits until the end of the hand to cheers and take his shot.

Turn: BB checks, CO checks

BB and CO still have 2 shots in front of them.

River: BB checks, CO checks

Showdown BB wins, CO mucks

SB has to take 1 shot for calling and then folding, so he "lost 1 shot"
BB wins so he doesn't have to take any of his 2 shots
CO lost so he has to take 2 shots

SB and CO refill to have 5 shots each, deal another hand.

Hope that makes some sense.

We didn't really use a blind structure because we were really just drinking so no one was exactly nitting it up. Although having a half shot blind might work as well.

In retrospect doing this with shots of beer instead of liquor would probably make the game last a little longer. :P

Here is the game I made up. People may claim they have heard it before, but what ever. I know I never read it anywhere.

First, you start with the number of players being anything short of 10. You deal all players 7 cards. You start with trading 3 cards to the person to your right. No player may look at the cards given until they have given thier cards over. Now, You can either do the next turn to the LEFT or to the RIGHT again, your choice. You trade 2 cards this time. Then same thing, trade 1 card. You now put down your cards in any order you want.

Now the drinking comes into play. Everyone flips one card. And a round of betting goes through. You bet in seconds. So if you say, I raise 10. You raise to 10 seconds. But avoid math, and when someone raises 12. They raise it TO 12. Not to 22. Avoid math in drinking games. Go through all rounds of betting until all 5 cards are shown. At which point, the winner drinks nothing, and the loser takes it all. If at any point you fold, you drink for as much as you bet. And if you fold at the start, you take one drink for being dealt in.

I call it Anaconda.

Feel free to submit questions. Pretty straight forward, people love it. Because you can put 3 10's in a row and people think you have quads. When your 4th street and 5th street is junk, and you got them to fold because of being scared.

In dealer's choice games, we play something very similar to this, but with betting rounds instead of drinking. We call it "Pass the Trash."

My brain hurts a little bit after that, and I'm sober.

Just thought this one up, it's just a SnG with drinking rules

Drinking poker:

(Timed SnG) 5k starting stack
Play normal NLHE rules

1. Every time a player wins without showdown, they take a shot
2. Every time there is a showdown won by a high card or the board, everyone takes a shot.
3. At showdown, the loser drinks by the difference in hand ranks (1 shot for a weaker hand of the same rank)
4. If a somebody gets rivered, the winner takes a shot
5. If somebody busts, they take a shot every 5 minutes until the end of the game
6. At the end of the game, everybody takes 1 shot for every 1,000 chips
behind the leader they are (rounded up)

Planning on playing this next week, I'll let you know how it goes
