My Modianos warped just like my Kems have done in heat.

I bought a deck of the plastic Bicycle cards while I was getting stocking stuffers at that fine french retailer Target.

...haven't used them.

I'm still a Kem supporter - warping issues aside. I see less wear on them, and I like the feel. To each their own.

[Oh, and I still postulate that Kem wins the polling because more people have them. They are the Budweiser of plastic cards - as was observed above.]

Any acetate card will warp if heated. I have no problems with our Kems. Very similar to Copags. The Modianos stand out because they are thicker and stiffer. You'll either like or dislike that characteristic.

While I haven't done a quantitative analysis of all decks at all temperatures and storing conditions, I personally find the Kems to be more susceptible to an Arizona summer (and I like to have the cards always in the "ready kit").

No matter what deck I use, I find I replace them fairly often for one reason or another.

C'mon Pali, stainless steel cards would warp in the "ready kit" that you leave in the car during those 175° Arizona summers.

Just noticed this archive thread revived. I'm still sold on Modianos, just can't stand how quickly Copags fade, and I love pre-Kems, the USPC Kems are pretty good, but the Acetate Modianos (which are another notch up on regular Modianos) are the nuts IMO. Haven't used the DalNegro Acetates, but I'd guess they're on par w/ Modiano Acetates.

I have a set and I can't say I'm very impressed. They are really slippery and I noticed all the black started to rub off after just a few shuffles. Played maybe three games with them now, and though I wouldn't say there's a fear that it will all come off, the clubs and spades are noticeably spotty. They're also fairly expensive (more per deck than copags), and I swear to god they have this funky smell to them.

I hope you're referring to the Bicycles, never had any smelly Kems,Copags or Modianos

Oops, I should have deleted the first line from my quote. But yeah, the Bicycle "Prestige Duraflex" have this weird sweaty chemical smell to them. It might go away if I wash them, but I'd rather just play with better cards.

I like Modianos for the thickness / papery feel. The Platinum Acetates are awesome, but they were chipping and breaking like CRAZY in our kitchen table game. They seemed to be fine on a padded surface, but our group rarely plays on one. For this reason we switched to the "regular" Modianos, and I was pleasantly surprised to notice only a minimal difference in feel between these and the Acetates. We haven't broken a card since.

Fournier has become my favorite. For feel and durability, I think they're tops.

I've sold over 1,200 decks of the Fournier PartyPoker.com cards in the marketplace, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
The pips are large, but not jumbo, which is ideal imo.
Just wish they didn't all have green backs.
In our club game, we use two decks. One Fournier, one Copag. Of the players who have a preference, it is 100% Fournier.

In our Marketplace?

Do you work for a supply company? Or is this just a hobby?

lol KEM and Gemaco (only regular index in bridge format) are like so far ahead of anything in terms of beauty and feel/durability. Copag's are just fugly.

I suppose paper because everyone else in my home game will complain about how slippery and such nicer cards are.

Most have sold in 2p2 marketplace. It was by accident that I fell into selling these.
There is a salvage store in my town that had a huge shipment of golf merchandise come in, and I went to check it out.
I didn't find anything I liked, but browsed the rest of the store and came across these decks on the shelf.
The price was too good to pass up, so I got all they had. Then they got more,.... and so on. I now have enought of these decks to have one hell of a MTT!

I've seen these, and I would've been all over them if different backs were available. I love the goofy facecards and the price is right, but my games all run two decks per table and my players would be fouling the decks constantly.

Yep, I don't know why they didn't make two different colored backs.
I will use a deck of these with a separate deck of Copag, Kem, or something different. I could understand some not liking doing this way, however.

My favorites are a set-up of 2008 WSOP cards. I also like the COPAG Lone Star cards, which you can find at Caragails.

Copags!

My brothers girlfriend got him a pack, and they were really, REALLY good. Pity some drunk bitch broke a card, so it's really hard to shuffle since the card gets stuck, and everyone realises who has the card because its cut in half

Does anyone know what cards are used in the FT shop/FT poker academy store?

I have played with a lot of different cards. I like copag the best for several reasons. no warp, off white color looks "clean" for the life of the card, where kem bright white shows off greasy finger prints etc. a bit more snappy feeling but not too slippery.

Kem makes a great product but imo it feels a little too papery and they usually warp after a few uses.

I have several decks of Modianos, they're pretty durable for my coordinationally challenged group, including cleaning the beer off.

KEM is the deck that all casinos in BC use so im used to those and like them, but ive used Copags at home games and the face cards have a cool look + the quality is just as good, so its probably a tie.

A-Plus is my favorite brand but to make a choice on this list I'd go with Copag.

I just got some Cartamundi Casino Plastic Sets with jumbo index from Cara Gails. They are my new favorite.
