If you had to pick one brand what would it be?

I've only played with Copags, Kems and Gemaco....all good cards. I'd have to rank Copags #1.

I have a couple Desjgn decks and love them. I like them much better then Kems and copags personally.

Kem (preUSPC) poker size deck with standard index. These classics rock!

Had to vote for Modianos since it's tough to find any new "old" Kems at an affordable price, although I think they're truly the best. I've got a 2 deck pack of Kems that must be about 35+ years old, and they still shuffle great although I'm a bit leery to break them out for our games since they have so much history
The new Kems are OK, but not the same playability

I love my Copags, but for strictly sentimental reasons, I always smile when I see a pack of Bicycles. Very nostalgic.

People choosing copags, please explain. I've never played with those, but didn't know I wanted to -- I thought pre-uspc Kem's and maybe Modiano's got all the respect. Should I order a deck because they really kick ass, or are they just a good value?

I have to vote Copags, as these are the cards we deal at our games. Absolutely no problems with them.

Copag is pretty kickass, but make sure you get 100% plastic. IMO, however, the best cards I have used are the ones from the Pokerstars FPP store.

My favs used to be Dal Negro and Modianos. But I recently dislocated a middle finger and the stiffness of the Italian cards is a bit painful for me when it's my turn to deal. So at the moment I prefer Copags over Kems because Kems are way more expensive and to me, not worth the extra bucks. Copags are cheaper than the Modianos and have nicer cases and are a excellent value. Both Copag/Kems are much softer/more flexible cards and easier to deal with a finger injury.

Fournier is my fave. But I have a soft spot for all things Spanish (food, wine, football, wife)

Copags are a VERY GOOD value. They are nearly identical in quality to the pre-uspc Kems. You can even get Copags at Target online for as low as $14.99 per set of two decks! Great deal!
But my favorite cards of all time are still the pre-uspc Kems.

I'm with Bumbaclat: forget price for a minute, what's the flat-out best card money can buy?

call me a degen, but cost is simply not a factor to me. $15 or $100 for a really nice pair of decks that lasts a year or more is the same, imo.

but thanks for the review, I might just have to buy a deck to see how they feel... Is the ABS a lot different than cellulose acetate?

Another vote for Copags.

I've used most of the brands, and I like a lot of the designs, but Copags for me have lasted longer than any other brand. Additionally, the jumbo index is still a reasonable size (seems I always accidentally order a setup when I get a bunch at a time). KEM jumbos are darn near unusable for how far you need to spread and lift the hole cards to see them.

Copags for me stay loose the longest. The ink on the front fades a bit, but they still shuffle and deal well for a long time.

It's my feeling that Kems get a lot of press because that's what a lot of people see. Beer and bar leagues use them A LOT, since when you go looking for cards at "the big stores" you used to just see Kem and Copag, and Copag were much cheaper...so they're everywhere.

I've had both old and new Kems, and I prefer them to Copags as long as you don't let them get warped. You have to store pretty much any of your cards in the box, and not out in the garage. Treat them like cigars

I'm still looking to try Modanos and Dal Negros... ...I think I'll order a setup of each now...

...still like my Kems.

...and I wish I could find a set of peeks that I liked.
