Got a basic deck of 808 rider back Bicylces and some decent chips but the problem with air cushioned decks is that when your mate spills his beer on the table it kinda of spoils the deck

So I want to get the best cards which are better,

KEM

Copag

Other?

I like the feel of my Kem setups much better than the feel of my Copaq setup. The stiffness, thickness and texture of the cards just feels right to me. All my Kem's are pre-USPC buyout though so I can't speak to the quality or lack there of of the newer kems. You can probably still find pre USPC kems on Ebay if you search a little.

Modiano Platinum Acetate or Modiano Cristallo Acetate would probably be the best cards that I know of.

Basically, these cards are just so much better than some of the crap you have to play with at some home games that you just can't lose.

Ever played with a deck that has a joker with Q9 clubs written on it! lol

The old KEM cards are great. They have the right feel and look (I like the font and face style). The new KEMs are not impressive. Copag decks last longer - even though the faces may fade a little. That's not a huge deal because it will generally be uniform. They still retain their snap and firmness though.

I will second what others have said about Modiano being good. My only beef with them is that I have only found Jumbo pips, which I absolutely hate playing with. As far as the actual material goes, they're a little more substantial.

Fournier - two EPT sets and two 2800 sets. Nice and thin. Easy to shuffle and deal.

Caragails seems to have them.

Anyway, OP, you can't really go wrong either way. Copags are a bit cheaper and will be infinitely better than the standard paper cards you are currently using.

A lot of people are recommending Modianos, and you can't go wrong there, either. Tridentcards.com currently has single decks for $5. (although I don't know what S&H is, and like Aceium said, it looks like they only have jumbo index).

I don't think you should agonize over this decision, just get the size and color you want. I think you'll be happy with Kem, Copag, Dal Negro, Modiano, Fournier.

90% of the casinos and poker clubs I play in use Kems. I use them and love them at home too.

I'm hardly an expert but I love my Modiano Black Jacks.

Thick cards, slightly textured so they aren't as slippery, cool designs.

Can be found on Ebay for decent prices.

Fournier. They're great. I would rank my cards Fournier > KEM > Copaq

I bought a deck of the Desjgn cards just to try them and for the novelty, and really took a liking to them. They feel a lot like paper, very easy to work with.

They are now the regular cards in use for me.

Yeah, the pips and suits are non-standard, but that kind of goes along with custom chips and makes the whole setup seem more unique.

FWIW: I hated my Desjgn cards.

Way too slippery. Even had one tear........????

Desjgn are definitely more slippery than Dal Negros. which I have and also like a lot. Dal Negros feel very much like paper.

I'm pretty sure Desjgn has a replacement option. Did you use it?

I don't want to pimp them too hard, but since I do like them, I would be curious to learn if someone used the card replacement and how it went.

Nah. Since I didn't like them to begin w/ I just bought a different style of card.

That's how I ended up w/ the Modiano's.

Do the Desjgns lose some of their slip w/ use?

I didn't use them much & I still have a good deck, and COULD try the replacement program, but I have two good decks of the M's (and only two tables)

I just got my Copag decks today.Brought from E-Bay seller and paid £12.95p GBP so around $25.60c ish USD delivered to the door

I'm pretty impressed, the look and feel to these cards are very sweet. They slide across the table like lightning!I can't wait to hold a home game.Only thing I need now is a decent table I was thinking about buying one of those fold aways,or perhaps making a table of my own as my place is pretty small and space is limited!

I like Dal Negro Torcello myself. I really like the Desjgn design too, though i prefer a more textured surface.

I like the Old KEMs alot, but the new ones are too thin and the backs wear out rather quickly.

I have to go with Copag for my favorite as I have not tried the other brands.

Good on ya! You have to use plastic cards if your gonna play real poker. Just curious, does Copag offer replacement cards is you damage one?? I'm about to order a couple of new decks.
