What chairs should I use? I’m about to start running a home game with my neighbors and people from work. They range in skills and abilities and experience. I don’t want to break the bank buying chairs but I want them to be comfortable to sit on for at least a few hours. Also, the less space they take up when not in use, the better.

Any recommendations?

By me I’ve found some awesome deals at Hotel Outlet stores for banquet chairs. They are quite comfortable and perfect for the poker table. I got them $10 a piece I believe. They can be stacked as well which helps when I put my second table away or bring them elsewhere for other events. Of course you can spend more and get nicer ones…

I was intrigued by this idea and looked up the nearest hotel outlet store to me but it’s four hours away. Nonetheless, I’ll definitely start searching Craigslist and OfferUp for banquet chairs. Thanks for the tip!

I have terrible folding chairs but I picked up some seat pads from Ikea and people were pretty happy.

It depends on what your long term plan is.

I play in many games where the chairs are terrible. Because the game is good, and it is what it is. Same goes with tables (like these tables with a fake wood ring before the felt) or terrible chips that almost make shuffling impossible.

Then again, I have to say that quality chairs make an incredible difference. I also play in games where they have 100+ € chairs, and it's a bliss. The back support and wheels especially are important when playing very long hours.
