4 of a kind and 3 of a kind, game name?

Hey guys, I played this poker game as a kid quite a bit which invovled having 7 cards, picking up and discarding 1 every hand. Till you either had either 3 and 4 of a kind, or a straight. We called in Jin Rummy, but I found out that's a different game
Anyone heard of this and know it's name?

It is just a form of Rummy. In a 2-person game of Gin Rummy, each person typically gets 10 cards, but a quick look on Google found rules where with 3 or 4 players you each get 7. I have no doubt somebody plays a 2-person game just getting 7 cards, too.
