Gendry runs the 30 miles in a couple of hours without his lungs filling with blood given it's sub-zero out. He the fastest cuz it's well known blacksmiths are excellent runners.

Dany flew at light speed to save Jon and Co on their suicide mission since he always leads himself to a point where a woman has to save him. Then he had to order a "Dead Uncle Ben" Uber to show up and save him again.

The Night King, 3-time gold medalist in the javelin btw, took out a dragon with his bare hands.

But the chains...the chains made no sense!

Who cares about where the stupid ****ing chains came from. It's an army of dead and white walkers, who wear clothes cuz it's cold out I guess? The **** ain't going to make sense especially given they are trying to end the series at a rapid pace...its not Breaking Bad lol.

If you didn't enjoy that episode you should really just stop watching cuz its only going to get worse than the above. That **** was fun and a great ride.
Out of all the things you mentioned, in-universe, the chains really do make the least amount of sense in this episode.

did the WW foot soldiers have any steel weapons? kinda hard to tell with the whole screen being blue.
08-19-2017 , 03:58 PM
They probably have the same weapons that they used in their previous lives. I assume most of the wights are former wildlings, most of whom carried weapons on them at all times.

Charliedontsurf: The meaning of "chains make the least sense" seems to have gone over your head.

OAFK: His post is fine and spot on. GOT fans and fanservice fans for anything thats on aren't the same thing.

maybe they have some turbo pigeons they keep in the back for special occasions like this.

The WW soldiers all have weapons which look to be made of magic ice that is stronger than steel and can kill dragons.

Everyone else has steel weapons since steel is what everyone that lives north of the wall uses for weapons, just like in the south.

If the chains aren't made of ice its likely they are just anchor chains from ships...perhaps like the ones that would sail into Hardhome.

The Night King has the same powers as Bran and is likely 100x greater at using them, so he knew that the dragons were coming and that was his ultimate goal.

Don't get the chains hate. What were they supposed to do, devote an episode to the story of how the white walkers got moving equipment?

When asked what substance the swords of the Others are made from, Martin answered "Ice. But not like regular old ice. The Others can do things with ice that we can't imagine and make substances of it."
Good enough for me re chains.

Really think this is reading waay too much into these guys writing skills and/or the NK's intellect.
It's their biggest advantage that anything living that comes at them can be turned on their sides, but I don't think he was expecting the dragons. and even if he were, there's nothing supporting this idea.

they could have easily shown the nights king diving, touching the dragon underwater and making him fly out of there. it would've been great visually and it would make more sense since they wouldn't use the chains. the fact that they DIDN'T do this, but decided to just spend money with cgi with all those wights carrying the chains makes me think they either wanted to keep that exactly like grrm told them or they just value visuals over some inconsistencies.

Yeah this should not be glossed over. It's a reasonable explanation for why they let them live on the island that long without attacking with arrows or w/e, and the chains. I actually believe the show logic isn't as dumb as it seems sometimes, they just never take a second to explain or justify anything.

Jojen dreamt of and could see into the future, if he could why not the NK? It has been shown he has Bran level magic already, not sure why adding this is such a leap.

Just have the dragon not take a swim, plenty of land around.

But then they would have felt compelled to try and burn it.

They seemed to be in a rush to get out with the millions of undead and patriot spears.
08-20-2017 , 04:57 AM
I assume that dragon head close up with the eyes shutting and the body slowly slipping into the water was a shot they really liked. It was pretty sweet actually.
08-20-2017 , 05:22 AM
It was a great shot and out of all the things you can be a nit about in that scene, the chains are low on my list. For example, why did the Night King clutch a shot against the smaller dragon that was flying around when the boss dragon carrying his enemies was stationary right in front of him?
08-20-2017 , 06:38 AM
Here's a clip of NK with Drogon clearly in front of him. Why doesn't he just spear the easy target Drogon and then **** up Dany and crew before trying to bank a shot against a flying dragon? These things bother me more than the chains.

Yeah I don't understand the chain hate either. They went somewhere to get some chains, brought them back, and pulled the dragon out.

I don't get the problem here.

So then Drogon dies on land and they toast him with the other dragons = no ice dragon for the Night King.

The only way the Night King gets a dragon is by killing it on/over the ice and have it sink to the bottom.

If NK killed Drogon on the island and they had escaped on the other dragons and just left without burning the corpse, the same nits would "OMG I can't believe they left Drogon to be turned by Teh Night King"
08-20-2017 , 07:40 AM
If he takes out Drogon first then all the humans are ****ed too. Who's going to tell the dragons to burn the corpse if all the humans are dead? If he kills Drogon first he potentially has 3 dragons instead of 1 because Dany is dead and can't tell them to leave.
08-20-2017 , 09:10 AM
how does killing Drogon automatically mean Dany is dead too?

And if he does kill Dany, it's fair to assume the remaining dragons don't take kindly to the act and kill the NK and his buddies.

I'm guessing it's 18 months away minimum. Gonna be a long wait
Trump needs to MAGA and make some calls to speed this **** up.

It doesn't mean she's dead but he had another spear and presumably more ready to go. He could have killed Drogon, immobilized Dany etc and then taken out at least another dragon when it attempted to save her or burn Drogon.

FWIW I know I'm being ridiculous but I nit pick dumb stuff.

you use logic like flat earthers

everything has to fit in somehow to D&D's story making sense
