Also, despite the teleportation and the zombie dragons, the episode was actually quite a lot smaller in scope. Only a few locations and only two real plotlines - the mission north and palace intrigue in Winterfell.

That said, there was a bit of eyerolling stuff - in particular Benjen randomly riding in to save the day. Overall I thought it was really good though, in competition with Ep 4 for the best of the season.
I agree with this, some of the issues with the ep here are probably a matter of expectations, particularly for those of us who read the plot leaks. The plot leaks made this ep sound like it had potential to be the best EP ever.

So Beric is a bit of a jerk. He's got plenty of fire in his flaming sword to burn Thoros after he's dead, but none to keep him from freezing to death in the first place?

I think the last season could have taken place over 2 seasons and given us more. But given that its still GoT, meh I'll take what I can get!

To me the crazy tilting thing is harvesting all this dragon glass, and then seemingly not taking any up with you past the wall when you go on your raid. Like make some crude spears or something bros.

It's hard to tell for sure, but it looks like they did make dragon glass weapons - Jorah's twin daggers, Tormund's axe in particular.

If that's true, it would certainly have been good to show even just 20s or so of them being prepared somewhere on the way.

Watching the episode again and it felt like they were trying to cram everything into this season because the show is getting cancelled. Didn't we spend a whole season on Arya and the Hound's road trip? Would've been great if we spent more time with the Eastwatch magnificent seven imo.

Kind of curious what they'll do with Bran. I have trouble seeing where he'll fit in.

If he doesn't warg the NK's dragon or something equally big it will be a travesty. They have been working on his powers literally since season 1.

Oh man I didn't realize there was another season after this. Lol making way more sense now.

Just one more episode this season, right?
08-18-2017 , 05:40 PM
Right. It's an 80 minute episode tho!
08-18-2017 , 05:59 PM
lol I couldn't understand how they were possibly going to end in time. Now this is far more enjoyable.

I wonder how well guarded those last 6 episodes will be after all these problems this year.
08-18-2017 , 08:19 PM
They may just say screw it and upload them all to their streaming platform, but not say they're going to do it until the day of the season premiere.

I'm guessing it's 18 months away minimum. Gonna be a long wait

I think they just don't really care anymore

ever since they ran out of book material its made steadily less sense. They know we'll watch and as long it has epic scenes nobody really cares.

despite the fact that this episode made no sense in basically every scene it was still entertaining

Ikr and they didn't even try to jump or swim in the cold water when they were fully surrounding the human squad, but no problem for them to dive at the bottom locking the chains into that dragon.

One of the worst GoT episode ever imo

Pretty sure that 90% of GOT fans do not watch the show to be entertained but for the stories of the characters/houses. It was one of the only show with fantasy and realism getting very well along together.

Nice getting numbers outta your ass lol

I obv don't know the numbers but I actually think most book readers feel the way you described but I feel like most TV only watchers just like the fireworks.

Have you read the 'no bookreaders' thread? You're way off base here.

I read the ootv thread in SE and they always complain when "nothing" happens.

Yet look how much time is devoted discussion and debate over characters and lore.

There's a world of difference between complaining about the story not progressing and 'less talk, moar action, plz.'

I think the fact that he intentionally gave the very dagger that started the whole chain of chaos to Bran...only to have it make its way to be possed by Sansa, his puppet,...makes LF's fate clear.

OMG - the giant chains didn't make sense lol.

Gendry runs the 30 miles in a couple of hours without his lungs filling with blood given it's sub-zero out. He the fastest cuz it's well known blacksmiths are excellent runners.

Dany flew at light speed to save Jon and Co on their suicide mission since he always leads himself to a point where a woman has to save him. Then he had to order a "Dead Uncle Ben" Uber to show up and save him again.

The Night King, 3-time gold medalist in the javelin btw, took out a dragon with his bare hands.

But the chains...the chains made no sense!

Who cares about where the stupid ****ing chains came from. It's an army of dead and white walkers, who wear clothes cuz it's cold out I guess? The **** ain't going to make sense especially given they are trying to end the series at a rapid pace...its not Breaking Bad lol.

If you didn't enjoy that episode you should really just stop watching cuz its only going to get worse than the above. That **** was fun and a great ride.
08-19-2017 , 01:56 PM
Chains didnt bother me. NK could have just made them out of ice.
08-19-2017 , 02:12 PM
bran is a little too im14andthisisdeep for me to take him seriously

This post makes less sense than anything in GOT.

Close to 100% of people watch GOT with the hope of being entertained.

What you are confused about is how they want the show to entertain them.
