No clue. It seems like the WWs have a leader since they keep showing the one character. Are they intelligent beings on some level? I'm hoping we get to know more about them, keep getting teased so far.

Its a fun discussion. We've done it before. I have a bit of (perhaps naive) faith that we won't get bookreadered?

Jon's sword, the one with the fancy carving in it. The one they've given much screen time too. Given to him by Commander Mormont. The sword that was supposed to go to his son. I always guessed that the reason Commander Mormont was in the Night's Watch is the same reason Jorah Mormont was living with savages across the narrow sea: Jorah destroyed the Mormont family by selling slaves.

I made past posts how I believe all the screen time for the sword was because Jon (or just his sword) and Jorah were destined to meet someday.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4: TV Only Thread - No Bookreaders

I have the same naive faith as doggz; I'm enthusiastic about this show and I enjoy being guided through it by people who've either watched it more closely or read the books. I assume there aren't many long-time posters on here who'd spoil the show just for "lols" because, well frankly most people who read books aren't 12 years old and this is a generally friendly, intelligent community. I have no problem with bookreaders posting, and I find the complaints about them to be a bigger distraction.

As for the death pool, I'll be shocked if Dany or Arya go any time soon. I'll be sad if Tyrion goes, but I suspect he's on thin ice.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4: TV Only Thread - No Bookreaders

The most interesting dynamic for me this upcoming season will be how Margaery works Joffrey; that was present last season hoping to see even more after they're presumably married. Their scene with the crossbow was one of the highlights of s3. Just every scene with her and Joff is great.

LO, you just started posting in this thread. Most have been for 3 seasons.

You are 100% wrong.

Hoping for 72 to come in here and put some more heads on spikes.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4: TV Only Thread - No Bookreaders

I heard all about the "book readers pretending to speculate so as to appear smart" thing, and was given a list of posters I ought to ignore if I wanted to follow the thread without being spoiled. I just find it difficult to get my head round the idea that people would be that retarded, I guess. I bow to your experience though and I'll happily shut up about it as spoiler discussion is dull.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4: TV Only Thread - No Bookreaders

DoGGz, oh I remember. Didn't think about the sword beyond that before. I don't know that this means anything about them meeting. There's a lot of foreshadowing that never goes anywhere (well, yet anyhow). Like, one reason I may not have thought Ned was going to die aside from being the main character was the identity of Jon's mother. At this point I don't believe it'll ever be known.

Another thing I'm curious about is Benjin Stark just disappeared beyond the wall in s1. I figured in s2 we would find him in Mance's camp but nope. Or was that his hand the direwolf found..? Anyways, shrug. I don't think we're gonna find out for certain. There's quite a lot of these false leads in a way where it seems to be foreshadowing an event which doesn't happen.Without them everything would be predictable in advance given how heavily foreshadowed most events have been in the show. Some of it was ridiculous how far back something which came up later was meaningful: Sansa's fear of the Hound in like ep2 for instance I recall a very brief scene that in some way had a meaning in s2e9 (I cannot recall the exact details on why). Little things. Or even Theon's penis in the frame s1. Poor Theon. There's essentially no wasted frame.

This isn't remotely plausible aorn

It'd literally have to happen in like s12 so I'm gonna say no

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4: TV Only Thread - No Bookreaders

I used to post in the old thread (I didn't read any of the books till after that season aired)
I grunched this thread so didn't see that post by 27o and believed the problem was secret book readers speculating about what might happen in the future.

I only talked about things clearly seen on screen and when someone explained why that was still objectionable I didn't try to argue I simply said ok I won't post further.

if u guys want me punished for that it's fine, but I'm 100% confident what I posted was super vanilla and in now way could be twisted around to make ppl question how future seasons might unfold.

if the mods disagree I'm fine with that.
wasn't trying to aids up this thread (as I had to suffer thru the aids that was the last thread).

I'm also not going to beg to be allowed to keep posting, I'm fine with you guys not wanting any book readers in.
just don't want my posts to derail this thread like the last thread was.

enjoy the show.

Yes you do. You even said it yourself later on in the same post:

Do you honestly think the conversation between Ned and Jon and the conversation between King Robert and Ned in S1E2 were both wasted dialogue?

Especially the one with Ned and the King. Ned lost his honor after being married only a couple of years? The he goes out of his way to protect his mistress's identity ("you never told anyone what she looked like" ... "nor will I"), and on top of it all, he brings the bastard home to Cat knowing she'll go ape **** over him.

I'm practically convinced that Jon's mother is Ned's sister. There was a ton of discussion about this in the big thread. The reason I believe it is because of how Raegar Targaryen is described with contradiction. We hear stories about how he kidnapped Ned's sister, and even King Robert bitches about how she belonged with him. But then later on in S3, Barriston Selmy calls Raegar "the nicest guy he ever knew." And we all know how honorable Selmy is. Plus, there's no motive for him to be lying in that context.

I don't think Ned's sister was kidnapped. I think they ran off together and had Jon together.

Wait, there's more Vix. Rewatch that scene with Ned and Robert in S1E2. Ned is obviously lying about stuff.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 4: TV Only Thread - No Bookreaders

Oh, speaking of death pools, I'd like to make a couple of predictions.

Joffrey still has a leech on him from Lady M and Stannis.
Cersei would probably rather poison herself than marry Loras. She might even kill Loras instead of marrying him.
Walder Frey has something coming to him, no?
The Mountain should be caught up with soon.
Isn't Rickon on his way to stay with people who are no longer Stark bannermen?

Non Death Pool Picks:
Bran / Hodor
Jon Snow
Dany
Tywin
Jaime
Samwell
Arya

I think the guaranteed to live through this season are Dany, Bran, Jon and Arya. I'm tempted to put Sam and Gendry there too but you know... GRRM...

SOMEONE has to commit suicide eventually. I mean the show has explored some of the darkest taboos in society. Zero suicides.

Yah Walder Frey broke the biggest taboo of all last season. I doubt that goes unpunished.

We can put Shae on the death pool list as well, just out of good ol' fashioned wishful thinking.

There's not enough RAPE on this show either for the amount they talk about it.

Walder so old that he's gonna die soon anyway.

@our house - glad my post about Jon from S2 didn't get forgotten.

@vix - do you really put it past this show to foreshadow stuff in S1 that we learn about in maybe the final season? S1 was filmed with a general idea of how all the story lines end.

rbk, thanks for understanding and not posting itt any more. if you would like to request being able to post itt in the future, by all means do but the list is going to be short.

I skimmed over the rbk stuff, but it just seems to be another example of why differentiating between the 'good' bookreaders vs. the 'bad' ones is a lesson in futility that will perpetuate itself daily once the show starts up.

I'll be announcing those decisions soon too.
