I’ll have to watch it again, I was too excited for it to be objective.

I liked:

- The library scene when Arya was hiding, the complete silence was intense
- the Unsullied fighting like complete bosses
- the score
- the tension, which held throughout for me
- Arya killing the night king and the buildup to it
- the Night King scenes in general, I thought his nonchalant stroll and calm movements were great
- When the Red Lady lit the pits
- Tyrion and Sansa moment where they thought they were going to die

I didn’t like:

- the lighting. This was way too dark, wtf? I couldn’t see sh*t
- the dragon fighting, although I thought it would be like this. You can only do so much with two dragons breathing fire (and ice) at each other.
- the crypt plot line, i thought it was meh

All in all I’ve preferred the story lines that didn’t include the Night King and the army of the dead so I am looking forward to everyone going after Cersei. She will for sure have some good stuff up her sleeve

***it feels kind of strange and anticlimactic that it took one hourlong battle and a stab with a dagger to bring an end to years of buildup to this whole winter is coming thing, but I guess it kind of has to be that way.

Yeah I wasn't sure if it was just my crappy TV, but I could see about 50% of what was going on.

I still thought it was a good episode. I liked the suspenseful buildup to the attack at the beginning. Arya saving the day was cool if a little predictable. I mean, everyone knew someone would get the Night King and all the bad guys would disintegrate or whatever. Was just a question of who.

Benioff and Weiss don't seem like they are ever critical of anything they do.

Honestly not really sure what to think.

Expected way more people to die. The number of characters with major plot armor is getting too damn high.

Did not expect them to raise the Stark dead. Even having seen people bring up this point, I just didn’t think they would. For some reason I got the impression only the recently killed could rise but obviously not.

Stop hurting the dragons JFC.

I get the effect they were going for but having so many little scenes so hard to make out with the lighting and snow effects was meh.

When the dead rose I did start to think maybe a major major character would die but somehow not? Like at this point give us back that Ned Stark shock and horror where an unkillable character dies especially in a battle like this. I can’t think of anyone I gave any sort of real **** about who’s died in ages now.

Jaw literally dropped at the end. Honestly had no idea how it was going to resolve since Bran wasn’t armed AFAIK.

Unless the original intent was to have the Night King sit the Iron Throne I think he had to die this week. Who else was going to stop him? It still feels...weird that it turned into a one and done battle.

3 episodes left.

I liked the Tyrion/Sansa dynamics, but a ton of this was predictable and way too hollywoody. I love the books and the characters so much that I can’t quite hate the episode even though I want to.

These are almost my exact thoughts too. The crypt was by far the most disappointing part of the episode. There were so many things that led us to believe Tyrion or even Sansa would think of some trick or strategy that would be relevant to the plot, but nothing ever happened. And the dragons were just a waste of CGI money here.

But much of the rest of the episode was thrilling.

It was indeed the darkest episode of TV I’ve ever seen. But I think the moments where that created confusion were intentional and didn’t really bother me. And my TV is almost 10 years old.

I’ve watched too much Star Trek so I’m pretty much immune to getting worked up over the obvious last minute the good guys miraculously survive cliche, but I feel similarly. Like I’m sort of thinking the episode might be objectively mediocre at best but I’m still mostly satisfied?

There were definitely times I didn't know exactly what was happening, like which dragon was on screen, who was getting overrun by the army of the dead, or exactly what Sam was running away from.

For a moment, I thought it was Arya fighting the wight giant instead of Lyanna Mormont.

CGI is cheaper to do in dark scenes because it's not necessary to get every detail right.

Perhaps making a list will help some people out. Please add to it if your sure.

Definitely Dead
Night King
Melisandre
Beric Dondarion
Jorah Mormont
Theon Greyjoy
Lyanna Mormont

The Nights Watch guy Edd is dead I think? When he saved Sam?

I'd assume everyone else is alive. Ghost and Rhaegal are unknown though?

Bran is between the Night King and the tree. She comes from behind the Night King.

Absolute laughable episode.

She lept from the rampart. This is not complicated. There’s a lot in this episode that requires a suspension of disbelief, but this isn’t among it.

I don't why you idiots bother watching TV, most of you just complain and whine and hate, like you know what it takes to make a great TV show.

I'm out of this stupid thread.

I loved the episode but kinda not sure about the ending. Oh well, can't wait for the rest of the season.
04-29-2019 , 12:22 AM
yeah, the night king was going to win in this episode, then we have 5 hours of 10% brightness the rest of the way

great idea guys
04-29-2019 , 12:23 AM
Would be nice if last episode we saw a flashback with some exposition through Bran's visions on who the **** the night king is and what his motivations are.
04-29-2019 , 12:25 AM
why do people keep asking about the night king motivations when they literally explained it last episode
