Please correct me if I am wrong . I maybe because what I remember doesn't make a ton of sense .its my understanding the IB financed Tywin's wars and he alwyas paid interest on the gold he borrowed . The creepy IB #s guy came to Cersie looking for accelerated payments and , much to his surprise, she paid him off in full using the gold she stole from HG. Now they are going to re-loan the money to her so she can finance her current war?

They have to know even if she purchases the GC , she's a dog , right? The IB is also having problems with money it lent to the slavers who can no longer slave. I would thi that would tighten them up a little .

The whole thing seeems like a poker player finally getting back $$ a degen owed him after the degen binked a donkument only to give him back all the money to bet on a Connor Mac.

They really didn't do the Sansa/Arya/LF subplot very well at all. The idea behind it was fine but it just never felt quite right or pulled off plausibly.
08-28-2017 , 03:35 AM
at least it was the winterfell plot that wasnt very well written, not the actual sansa and arya characters that were ruined

Jaqen said at one point that the faceless men built Bravos, so it wouldn't be too surprising if there were links.

The whole undead solider running right at Cersei just to be pulled back by his chain at the last minute.... more extremely dumb and cheap TV schlock.

Tough to wait for books to drop then do tv show since books take forever, actors and actresses age, gain or lose weight get booked for gigs etc. I do agree that if the books do get finished they will no doubt be more nuanced than seasons 6 or 7 of GoT

The giant chains or maybe some other giant tools they've secretly been carrying.

The way TV shows and movies get rebooted these days, Thrones will get filmed again in the future. The reboot will undoubtedly be more faithful to the books (which will be done by then maybe.) Also depending on how many years it takes to see a reboot, I could see a lot older Lena Headey (Cersai Lannister) then playing Olenna Tyrell.

I wasn't saying they should pause and wait midway through the series. They should have never started it to begin with until the fat man was finished or damn close. Granted even he might not be able to wrap everything up in a fully satisfying manner, but there would still be plenty of witty banter and well conceived plot twists and none of this overwhelmingly obvious cliff hanger BS every episode.

I'm halfway convinced that George has got himself muddled and lost and is struggling to finish.

revolutions that destroy the powers that be are very bad for the powers that be. the iron bank has a vested interest in keeping cersei in power rather than daenerys bc cersei will help to maintain the status quo, while daenerys has already made it know that she is "breaker of chains" and desires to "break the wheel."

also, realize that daenerys is the one who ended slavery, which you mention was profitable for the iron bank. eliminating her would likely reintroduce that profitable situation.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but we got our second dragon rider. It also increases the chances that the Night King is a Targaryen or another Valyrian family house. It also explains the NK's obsession with conquest, Targaryens gonna Targaryen.

If filmed well, aerial combat between the Night King, Daenerys and Jon (Aegon) should be awesome.

Re Littlefinger -

I don't mind the outcome but the whole thing was clumsy. So Sansa started to suspect LF after that conversation, presumably goes to her brother who is like "oh yeah he totally killed your dad and started this whole war, you didn't know that?" So then she switcheroos him in court and then just straight up executes him no trial?

Would have been 100x better if they just consulted Bran in the first place or if he just came out and said it so we could avoid all that horrible Sansa Arya awkwardness, OR if Sansa and Arya figured it out without Bran and found some evidence, put him to trial or otherwise forced a confession, etc. Sansa talking like she out schemed LF because she consulted her all knowing brother was confusing at best.

Edit: was typing this out before rep's comment but yeah exactly

Edit: everyone else in the room was cool with this?

Sansa: "These are your charges how do you plead"
LF: "Not guilty"
Sansa: "Alright well I'm gonna slit your throat now anyway because my weirdo psychic brother says you're guilty"
Northern lords: "Seems legit"

The premise was fine, LF trying to engineer bad blood between the two sisters and they figure him out and get him in the end.

But nothing we saw to make that story arc happen made any real sense at all.

LF's character really deserved a better send off. They've invested 7 seasons in him and then he was killed off in a clumsy, rushed fashion.

I feel like an executive at HBO asked to poach people behind the best show on AMC thinking about breaking bad and instead he got some writers of the walking dead to finish what the books werent covering.

Neither of them talk, they're not much of a character. Jaime is cool

Still think Daenerys goes Mad Queen

lol i was going to point this out as well. kind of ironic tho, since rick and morty has been a significant step down in quality this season as well, but whatever. i laughed.

also awval being a michael bay fan mainly concerned with CGI masturbation is hardly a surprise, given what we know about him from other forums

I'm quoting this because it's a clear example of something that's been plaguing this show since E1 of this season. Way too cheap for a show that's been so rich.

Have been watching the show a 2nd time over and noticed when Benjin saves Bran from the Walking Dead that he afterwards gives a speech about his whereabouts the past 5 seasons. He says a walker stuck him with an ice sword and left him for dead but a CotF found him and shoved a shard of dragon glass in his heart.

So lol he's been given the same treatment that lead to WWs existing which apparently turned him into nothing more than an undead Benjin who spends his time tracking Stark children north of the wall so that he can rush in and save them with a burning skull mourning star at the last possible moment.

Bans have been given for what you're alluding to, so proceed with caution!

PS - No commentary at all on Undead Dragon's blue breath? I mean I guess it wasn't frost / ice as it destroyed the ice wall, but then it also didn't seem to be fire as it was blue and not fire-ish.

I understand that the season progressed rapidly this year compared to past.

But a couple seasons ago everyone was angry about the episodes and time wasted in Dorne and Aryas several seasons in Braavos. I mean, you can't have it both ways.

I feel like the complaints are that we've been constantly stimulated for 7 episodes and haven't had a chance to decompress with a filler episode, which is what we're used to, so now some are whining about the storytelling.... Which is because GRRM probably gave a two page outline, and we have hacks trying to fill in the pieces. But besides waiting another 6 years, for God's sake the last book was released in 2011?????

Things can go slow, as long as they include interesting things going on.

Arya w/Tywin: interesting.
Arya getting repeatedly hit by stickgirl: not interesting.

Correct. People didn't dislike Braavos because it was slow, it was because it was dumb.
