Hmm. So Arya's dead already then? Her face was on a shelf a few seasons back.

This is all quite confusing!

I think they went with cool/wtf moments over any kind of consistency, I wouldn't read too much into it.

Definitely this.

There was noise made at the time about how it made no sense to have Arya's face on a guy. Then the assumption was they did it to set up a Fake Arya reveal when the Waif was hunting her down. NOPE.

Re: Game of Thrones TV Thread - ***NO BOOKREADERS***

I think the sisters are playing Littlefinger, at least I think Sansa is. She knows LF can't be trusted, but goes to him for advice and counsel. She has to know Arya got the note from LF because nobody else would know about it. Sansa talks about how she has learned a lot from LF and Cersei on how to play the game so if she goes against everything she has learned would be absurd.

Having LF get out played is probably the best for him to get beat.

I think Arya just might be acting like a dumb kid where everything is black and white.

Either way, Jon Snow is on the Iron Throne at the end of the show, which pretty much sucks.
that wouldn't have anything to do with succession or her giving up a claim, Jon has the rightful claim right now.

if it ends up with the #BADGUYS white walkers being defeated by #GOODGUYS and the remaining families agreeing to come together and live in a peaceful land without the iron throne i'm gonna be mad

It's completely obvious that Arya and/or Sansa is playing LF right now. It's so amusing to see all the nits whinging itt. Y'all need to have some patience and let it play out. Have some faith in the writers, they've given us 6 awesome seasons so far. Not going to change overnight.

I think if GRRM has an outline in mind it will either be a cautionary tale / price of power type scenario, or they decide to start a whole new type of govt entirely.

Not sure if they will kill Dany but always thought given how much time they have spent on "bending the knee" talk and Dany's talk of she was meant to rule, once they reveal to everyone who Jon's father is and the marriage to his mother...Dany would opt to bend the knee to Jon in some dramatic fashion.

Bolded is a mortal lock to happen, and I'd say unbolded is a coin flip.

If I'm being super honest with myself I'd say I'm being overly cynical to guard myself against the disappointment of being correct, and hopefully I end up surprised.

i like this. maybe she will become the night queen and peace will be made again. maybe that's what the ww are after. A woman. it seems like the night king was in total control and missed the second dragon on purpose and decided not to strike at drogon who was closer. I mean, I no its far fetched but they haven't told us anything about the wwrs for a reason. maybe they just want to survive and killing Craster stopped they only way left they had to keep from going instinct... maybe all he wants is a night queen and will go back into exile.....

Part of it is there are less storylines than there were before.

The good part about this is a lot happens every episode, no real filler episodes or setup episodes. The bad part is episodes like tonight where they could have told a much better, cohesive story if they had done it over two episodes instead of one.

As was mentioned it's still bad writing because LF is supposed to be a genius at scheming, yet the idea of using a relatively innocuous note as the key to whatever plan he has, is really dumb. Arya really being that angry over a 3-line note from however long ago is just lol, yet evidently LF expected it... if true it makes both LF and Arya way dumber than we are supposed to think.

Maybe a stupid question (but it will be in good company in this thread)- When did we learn that Daenerys cannot have children? This season is the first time I recall hearing that.

Probably all the way back in S1 or S2 when she tried giving birth and the baby died.

It hasn't really been a focal point and I think was only mentioned a few times.

When Drogo was drying Dany was pregnant and had the witch use black magic to save him, but the witch was of course playing them the whole way and used Dany's baby as part of the offering to "save" him, but it just killed the baby and f'ed up her insides or something.

Re: Game of Thrones TV Thread - ***NO BOOKREADERS***

A few comments because I've been lurking lately:

1) Rage quit the show? No. Never. The most predictable thing about this season was that the writing and rushing would be worse, while the action & cinematography would be GOAT.

Whoever talked about BotB has a point. It seems like D&D are trying to reproduce the audience's appreciation of the amazing s6 finales. We'll see on Sunday if they can still come anywhere near another perfect episode (minus time jumping the shark). Really doubtful without GRRM.

2) If it turns out ice dragon can breathe fire, that's one way for the NK to break the spell and take down the wall for the army. Probably more likely he spits ice though.

3) Longclaw is an inanimate object. If Bran warged into a sword it would be a first, and fits no current plotline after 67 episodes. I was more interested in Benjen's appearance because his character didn't make much sense until now. He existed 7 seasons just to save 3 people and have 2 conversations. Turns out both things wound up being really important. Either way, Bran didn't have to be inside Longclaw to save Jon. He could have notified Benjen a few episodes back when they showed him fly to this area from Winterfell. We learned 3 big things from Benji & Bran talking. A) Dragonglass through the heart still makes a WW. B) The 3-Eyed Raven sent Benjen to save Bran, but a few minutes later (at the end of the 1st conversation) Benjen says "But you're the 3-Eyed Raven" to him. C) The Wall is magic and can't be crossed by the dead as is.

4) Agree that Arya is probably playing a role against Sansa so Littlefinger doesn't catch on, or so she could take him down. She just seems much smarter than she's acting. Side note: I'm trying to determine who would be the coolest person for Arya to become, but it's a tough one. Cersei maybe?

5) Rooting for the WWs IS the elite play. A) There's a decent chance they wind up winning. B) We know both ways to create new Walkers, and haven't really seen main characters flipped over yet. Personalizing the dead is top quality. C) Valar Morghulis keeps feeling important. It was literally the theme of magic for 5 or 6 seasons. If it's gender neutral and Walkers win, perfect conclusion. If it's literal, we might wind up with a Matriarchal society, like what started to emerge last season (think of who was in charge of each area at the end), and a complete dead/alive gender divide by the end.
