Nice chains those white walkers came up with.

Seriously lol bad writing. Top to bottom.

They showed the redshirts in the overview shots when they were still marching.

In the same sense that people are basically teleporting why couldn't white walkers have gone to get chains? Kind of dumb but meh.

That's weird, I understood "chaos is a ladder" on the first try, I thought I was an expert at this point

WW can make magic spears out of some kind of magical ice that destroys steel, they can certainly create magic chains

I mean I was entertained but it was objectively pretty bad imo. Agree that the Sansa/Arya power struggle is really weird and makes no sense. Arya should be way more aware of Littlefinger behind the scenes and not freaking out over a four line message Sansa wrote in duress years ago. Zombie dragon was so easily predictable, especially after they showed the bear. Throwing the rock to instigate the attack on the lake and then getting saved at the last second is just the most cliche action movie **** possible... which is the exact opposite of what this show used to be.

I've accepted that the show is just a cliche like every other show now

once they ran out of book material the TV writers went back to their roots and you can't expect them to do more. Its still very entertaining.

Don't get started with the chains, of all the things that happened in this episode the chains are the most realistic. Dany teleporting, Gendry running a double marathon in below 0 temperatures, Jon surviving minutes in freezing water+hours of a horse taking him back to a wall with soaking wet clothes etc etc. The chain is nothing.

Yeah people have been nitting it up over the chains in the spoiler thread for like the last 4 days. I don't get it.

Man, this is such a different show than it used to be.
08-20-2017 , 11:16 PM
couldn't they have brought a couple ravens with them on their trek into the unknown?

Well I'll be that guy, there was extended dialogue in the "frozen north" that had no visible breath so uh it can't be that cold right?
08-20-2017 , 11:19 PM
and only a couple were even wearing hats

He fought off some undead wearing full furs and then stayed in the water long enough for the undead to start march away.

If you ever did a polar bear dive, which is in warmer waters and lasts about a minute and then you get a dry towel and some hot chocolate immediately after you'll understand his super human feat.
Still more feasible than Jaime and Bronn's escape last episode though lol. I don't even care too much about stuff like that though, I'm willing to suspend disbelief, it's just the writing that I think has went super downhill this season. The great acting and cinematography still keep it really enjoyable though... but yeah it's a way different show now than it used to be.

I thought it was funny Jon didn't stop in Winterfell on his way back north but apparently they did not even send a raven with his plans or anything.

after six seasons of build its great to see the show paying off with epic battles, dragons, major characters teaming up, and so on, and so forth.

However, the cherry on the cake is nits who think they are better at watching tv hating every minute!

damn I wanted to make a more on point post but slow pony

you can love every minute of the show while understanding its lapses in realism, these are not contradictory things

The chance a character utters "yippee ki yay, mother ****er!" before the series ends is greater than zero at this point.

Definitely not hating every minute! I still look forward to this show every week. But I do think it's VERY different this season than how it used to be. Some people might prefer these episodes... but I think given time it will be the earlier season that are widely accepted as higher quality.

Yeah its great to have 60 hours of pretty elite television devolve into 6 hours of lol writing, tropes, conveniences, predictable storylines, and general pandering to the nut low of viewers.

This episode was ****ing horrible and it's a complete joke that supercedes suspension of disbelief when the writing ignores time to that extent.

Based on our timeline in even this episode (ignoring 6 seasons worth)

1) gendry was able to sprint to the wall. Given the conditions, it can't have been more than 20 miles and even that much is a stretch

2) our band of heroes were stranded, a raven was sent to dragonstone, received, and Dany flew to the rescue before any walker made a move and/or the gang froze or starved to death

3) John rides back to castle black and gets in a boat back to dragonstone

Now, by the time John would be in a boat surely the walkers would have gotten the dragon out of the water. So now the walkers are within a gendry sprint of the wall and have a dragon, and we know the dragon can apparently easily fly from dragonstone to where the walkers are inside of a day basically. So, if the walkers aren't overtaking westeros within the first 5 minutes of the next episode its just a complete joke.

Show is heading for a Dexter last season.

Jon and his crew took boats from Dragonstone to Eastwatch. Winterfell is a few hundred miles inland. Not that a lot of effort is expended on geography at this point.
