I guess, name a scene that she would have carried if she were a better actress? Arya's brief is basically to look downtrodden and out of place for most of the series. She doesn't get super awesome zinger lines like characters like Tyrion and Littlefinger do, she doesn't get to break out the booming Shakespearian voice like Charles Dance does.

I thought Maisie was pretty good in the Ed Sheeran scene. Her initial caution, then the gradual lowering of her guard, etc, most of it was done nonverbally and it worked. She's not a great actress by any means, but she's above average for TV, given her age.

I tend to agree and I think this is owing to the fact they outpaced the source material. GRRM is a terrific writer and, while many of the scribes working on the show probably are as well, as soon as a show (or movie) gets too much under the control of the studio execs it gets cliched up in a hurry. GoT is a pretty big property these days, they aren't going to leave it in the hands of *gasp* writers.

I seem to recall hearing somewhere that GRRM wrote the whole character of Tyrion with Peter Dinklage in mind to play him. That he saw him in a play or something and that was what gave him the inspiration. Could be wrong.

Anyways it's hard to imagine seeing a better lineup of British acting talent than they have in GoT. Sure some of the kids could've been better, but there are some pretty powerful stage actors in there.

While this is possible I highly doubt it is true. Dinklage was working as a data processor in NYC when GRRM was writing the first book. I'm sure Dinklage was still acting from time to time but probably not a lot (he has some small credits on his imdb around this period). He may have been moonlighting in some plays in NYC while working his day job. Also, GRRM has been living in New Mexico since before he started writing the books. Again, it's possible he took a trip to NY and saw some off-off-off-broadway play and saw 24 year old Peter Dinklage and was inspired to create Tyrion but I seriously doubt it.

Bonus points for this being part of her endless and terrible Stick Fighting Era, which are then DOUBLED for it involving her REVENGE W/ A LIST **** that effectively sums up her entire character.

This is the premiere example of Maisie not carrying her weight. She's been involved in some fantastic exchanges and events but relies HEAVILY on the actors she's working with.

Arya sucks as does the actress who plays her. Compare her now to Joffery actor in early seasons, it's not even close and that's just comparing her to kid actors in this vey series.

She's subpar at best amongst heavyweights which only highlights her suckiness.

Being the only one speaking puts more pressure on her to carry the scene, if she does a poor job of her lines the scene sucks or flops or use what ever word you feel is appropriate. Its all on her.

Monologues in acting are the hardest carries of scenes possible. Its upto you 100% to carry the scene, nowhere to hide, pressures on.

She doesn't seem that bad, writing on the other hand went from awesome with the Hound to pure suckfest in Bravos for an entire season. Other then that her story is pretty awesome. If you wanna **** on someone I'd pick Kalisee, sure the writing is **** but as soon as she opens her mouth I forgot she's a 10 and wish her dragons or someone would turn her into a bag of meat.






Is anyone else with me that anytime Davos is talking I'm 100% listening. Dude is just a great orator and an awesome character that parallels Tyrion in traits, you just see talking but it's all pretty awesome. Him correcting Jon Snow had me cracking up cuz of how longs it's been in the show and no one I was watching with caught it.

Glad other people are stepping in to laugh at DIB, he's so dumb it was going to give me an aneurysm trying to respond.

Re: the quality of the other actors, I like Dinklage a lot but his accent is baaaaaad. At this point tho he's been doing it so long that he can't change it to something better lol.

Cersei, Tywin, Jaime are all acted impeccably imo. Lots of minor characters have been well done too; Olenna, Oberyn, Clyburn, Roose Bolton.

I love the Hound but he hasn't needed much range up to this point. I'm hoping we see it this season with the direction they are going.
