I feel like people aren't understanding exactly why LF saying "chaos is a ladder" is so meaningful. Remember where he was in the middle of s3, he said this before it was revealed that he convinced Lysa to poison Jon Aron, before he schemed with Olenna to kill Joffrey. LF was just a weasel who appeared to have 0 loyalty to anyone but himself. The original domino, the thing that set every one on this wretched path, was Jon Aryn's poisoning. THE ENTIRE FOUNDATION OF THIS STORY was summed up in this one piece of dialogue. Everyone is allowed to have opinions, but thinking that is less important or meaningful to the Game of Thrones universe than The Hound telling Arya he isn't going to kill her is indisputably wrong.

Otoh, someone laughed at Howard saying "the things I do for love" but I actually do agree that that is in the conversation with LF's quote. Jaime is one of the most important characters in the show and since his hand was cutoff he's been on a path of redemption, literally the only thing keeping him from making a full turn is his love and devotion to Cersei.

Yea I had been avoiding this thread, and except for right after the show airs I have a hard time being motivated to check it.

I actually like another Littlefinger quote just as much:

Quote:
You know what I learnt losing that duel? I learnt that I'll never win. Not that way. That's their game, their rules. I'm not going to fight them: I'm going to **** them. That's what I know, that's what I am, and only by admitting what we are can we get what we want.

I love Tywin's take on LF's chaos is a ladder:

"You say that as if you were the first man alive to think it. Yes crisis is an opportunity, what other brilliant insight do you bring me today."

So there is a discussion of GOAT GoT quotes and no one has mentioned "Winter is coming" yet?

I mean, they literally say it all the time? Do some of you even watch the show??

Sometimes, it's not even meant literally - it works on so many levels, unlike some people itt.

Odds on Dany saying this at some point, and the internet literally exploding.

Anyway, regardless of the quotes meaning or place in GoT lore, no one should be berated or made to feel dumb for not immediately, each person follows the show to a different degree. And that's ok. I have rewatched the show in its entirety before each season airs, and rewatch a lot of my favorite clips on YT*. When LF said "chaos" it was obv to me where that was going before Bran even said anything. That may not have been the case for everyone, but it was for me. Does that make me cool? Of course not, probably the opposite actually lol.

*To steer this in a new and more positive direction, here are some of my favorites, most viewed, and, imo most meaningful.

The show is obviously still good, but man it was really something early on. It really felt like each and every thing that happened or was said mattered. A lot of it still might. But back then it really felt like pieces on a chess board being moved to this epic conclusion. The closer it gets to the end the more it feels like what we've known all along is inevitable. Hopefully that isn't the case

I think it makes you cool, and if it doesn't then posting those clips does

Some great scenes in there.

The original point of that post didn't even get finished. I guess I either deleted it by accident or just forgot to finish it lol. Shorter version, be cool people, it's just a t.v show.

The pieces have been moved though and there is still time for plenty of game.

We have a 60 min, 70 min and 80 min episode left this season, that's the same length as an extended LOTR movie. Then there is talk of feature length 6 episodes next year which could run the length of say another 8-10+ hours. So still plenty of time for great dialogue scenes with 12 hours to play with, also with the added benefit of a coming together of characters, so now we have maybe 5 locations to cover, Winterfell, Dragonstone, Sam/Citadel, Kings Landing, Eastwatch/Tormund/Nightking coming into play soon.

Chess also looks a little different after the first few moves vs after 70% of the pieces are gone.

when did cersei say that? must have been years ago. lol at remembering something from like 2 seasons ago. you must be some kind of nerd. or a sorcerer.

Isn't that her w Ned in season 1

Arya's gonna use the assassin dagger to kill either LittleFinger or Cersei.

The episode didn't live up to expectations for me. People were saying one of the best episodes of all time.

One of the things that made this show so great is that no one was safe, anyone could die at any time. Jamie should have gotten torched a few times. Bronn too. Was a cool scene though.

The Arya scenes were great. Love her character

I also felt that there were too many narrow escapes, very non GOT like. It would've been a lot better if the dragon and the Dothraki completely destroyed the Lannisters accompanied by some epic music. I actually thought that was what was going to happen when the Dothraki came rolling down the hill followed by the dragon

Sandsnake: You want a good girl but you need a bad pussy.

Totally agree, I don't care if Jamie survives but the fact that he's constantly two inches from incineration but you know he's not gonna die is weak. Bronn on the other hand was awesome because you get the sense he might not make it. For a split second I thought Jaime was dead charging Drogon because that actually would have been awesome but nah.

That said, I consider it a pretty minor nit and it was an amazing scene overall.

Thought he was trying to kill Dany.

I really don't get the Arya love ITT. She's extremely one dimensional and is second worst actress w/ only Dany beating her out as WOAT.

Plus, that 1.5 seasons of many-faced-god stick fighting nonsense was excruciating, and the preceeding season's Adventures With Hound were almost as bad, with a couple good scenes mixed in thx to the Hound.

How is she one dimensional?

"Grrrrr I've got a revenge list" = Literally everything you need to know about Arya.

Except that it's not. She forgives Clegane and was deeply conflicted about the house of black and white.

She also let Ed Lannister live.
